Stardust (DVD)

I thought this was a really good family film.. It seemed to take a while to get going but once it did we where all enthralled by it. The plot was good and more to it than origially thought. Robert DeNero was excellent - I will not look at him the same again when I see him in a serious roll.
I bought this film for my dauthger as we didn't get to see it at the cinema. I would expect the affects are excellent on the big screen.
Would recommend a viewing.

Stardust has a great cast and a wonderful storyline, the viewer will always be entertained and sat on the edge of thier seat waiting to know what happens next. Great fanasty film i would highly recomend.

What a great family film, this film has a little bit of everything, Ricky Gervaise is hilarious, what a shame "ferdy" doesn't have a bigger part. story line is far fetched and totally unbelievable but somehow it just doesn't matter. We all sat down as a family to watch this film and all enjoyed it, young and old.

One of the best movies i have seen in a long time. Great cast work so well together. If your not one for fairytale like movies you will not be dissapointed by this one. DO NOT let the PG put you off, it is something i could and would watch over and over agin!

One to buy this year.

This is a fabulous film-bought the DVD for my daughter who's 20, and has seen the film 3 times, last time with me! great fun, great cameo from Robert De Niro.

This is a great film. We enjoyed it all the more as it was one of the first HD-dvds we imported before Christmas from the States. We watched it a few days before xmas and it certainly is one of those family type movies that you can go back to time and time again. Deniro is just superb and really shows us his acting talents... Totally opposite to the gangster role he is renowned for!! I will focus more on the technical aspects of the movie as the picture transfer is superb and the sound and colours is totaly made for HD if you have it.... It really is a shame that HD-dvd lost in the format war to Bluray as the features were superior (always ahead by a few months, the prices were better and because the format was region free I was able to order this from the States months before the UK release and only paid £16.99.... Still at least there is one format to focus on now... BTW I will stick to DVD only for now as I wait to see if BLURAY becomes region free...

Anyway back to the film.... This is a great colorful, mystical and magical romp.. A good old fashioned family movie that I think you will enjoy. definately one for the collection whichever format or version you decide to buy..

The film was very enjoyable. A little slow at first but then exciting. Quite violent in places but also funny.

This is a quality film! A romantic story with a twist. Not predictable at all, i'm very much looking forward to reading the book.

Stardust sets the imagination on fire, the sound track was a perfect end to a truly wonderful heart warming film. I loved this film (if you couldn't tell!) the characters were amazing, there was a lot of comedy for adults and children alike.

This is an excellent fairy tale film, that is suitable for all of the family. All of my family enjoyed the film and we would recomend it for any night of the week. Ricky Jarvis stars and is his usual self making the film that extra little bit more enjoyable.

This film had such a good write up i decided to dedicate a wine night to it, but to be honest myself and my guests were left devastated. The acting was poor to say the least and even the story line failed to engross the audience.
It's not the worst film i've ever seen but i would advise you to have a 2nd choice of film that night as it's hard to watch this one to the end.

robert de niro as a gay pirate is really funny. the love story with the star is nice but the film is great with good characters. acting is good a dn also the special effects is good.

If you like golden compass you will enjoy this-plot is a bit thin in places but its still an entertaining watch.

Well I bought a fake copy put it in the dvd player saw how poor the quality was I then chucked it in the bin!!! My own fault buying on E bay who dont give a damm when you report it. Yes Ebay will remove this but at least I feel a whole lot better for typing this! The seller has been reported to FACT (the federation against copyright theft) If you get sold a fake report it its your hard earned money remember

This film easily would win 5 stars if it was a hotel. With starring roles going to Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert de Niro. You cannot help but laugh and love this film.
It is the story of Tristan (played by Charlie Cox) who has promised to bring a star to the girl that he hopes to woo. The adventure begins however when he discovers that the star is actually a celestial being who he must protect at all costs from Michelle Pfeiffer, a witch out to get the beauty's youth and so make herself young again.
Robert de Niro's performance is out of this world and totally out of character. He plays a pirate desperate that noone should know his secret when in fact the whole crew knows and goes along with it. It is I think Robert de Niro's finest hour. When you think of the name Robert de Niro you immediatly think of tough gansters who would stop at nothing to kill you and it would all be in a days work for them. Here he plays a soft marshmallow character trying desperatly to give the impression that he wouldn't think twice about killing or torturing when in fact he would rather go and put on a corset and dress complete with fan and stockings and have a nice cup of tea and a slice of cake than kill or maime. Those are words that just don't appear in this pirate's bourdoir and if they did would be immediatly slung out along with last years gowns.
It is a totally enjoyable film for both big kids and little ones alike. Definately one to keep the kids quiet as long as you also provide plenty to eat and drink so that they can go on automatic pilot and grab the goodies while they are engrossed in the film.
I gaureentee that you won't be disappointed.

I really enjoyed the film, it was very well made and I loved the adventure mixed with the romance. The characters were played well and it was a good story with a perfect ending.

I went to watch this at the cinema when it first came out. I had previously seen the trailers and was greatly interested by them. Thankfully I wasn't disappointed! The storyline is very well done and there is no rude content at all. I highly recommend this for the entire family!

This was recommended to me by a friend, and I am glad I bought it. Its a fairytale, alright, but so much more. there is adventure, and twists in the plot. A fab film for mums and daughters - much better than sitting through Cinderella for the umpteenth time or sitting through a Barbie or Bratz movie for even 5 minutes!!
this is one I will keep and replay. definately has the feel good factor, and not sickly sweet or soppy.

A sad, solitary trailer did no justice to Stardust's sharp wit. And with scarcely any internet presence to speak of, what discussion there was between those unfamiliar with Neil Gaiman's book consisted predominantly of vitriol. Disheartening, since it's actually a romantic, rousing and consistently funny throwback to the celebrated 1980s fantasies they're not supposed to know how to make anymore.
Despite being an unlikely choice to direct, Layer Cake's Matthew Vaughn - co-scripting with Jane Goldman - shows a great understanding of both the material and genre, fully justifying Gaiman's decision to sell the rights to his treasured story. "More than enough spice to keep adults satisfied"
