i thought this was a great film, my friend recommended it to me and i'm glad she did. it was slow at first and predictable but what love story isn't. if you like soppy love stories then this is for you
I sat with my 9 year old daughter whilst we were both off work and school with the flu, and absolutely loved this film. Its a real chick flick and a really good 'feel good' film. Perfect for a girly night in and a bottle of wine! Oh, and Jude Law is not bad either!!!
I loved this film, Jude law is extremely sexy and very loveable. kate winslet once again shows what she is made of. I laughes, cried and was thoroughly engrossed in this film which in my opinion is made for a cold blustery winter night curled up on the sofa! enjoy!
Most Highly Recomended. Absolutely no problems with this transaction. Would buy from this seller without any hesitation again. The item was as described, absolutely no problems. Fantastic.
I thought it would be a bit mushy with the likes of Jude Law and Cameron Diaz in it but I was pleasantly surprised....its a gorgeous film, yes romantic, yes Jude Law is topless but its the moral behind the story and the acting and laughter within in brilliant!
What a lovely british film, i brought this on a whim, and thoroughly enjoyed it, both kate winslet and cameron diaz are fab actresses and jude law is very British in it, his manerisms the lot, if only we all had a lovely english cottage or a huge home with swimming pool. well we can dream!. a must watch!
As a pleasant dose of holiday cheer, The Holiday is a lovable love story with all the Christmas trimmings. In the capable hands of writer-director Nancy Meyers (making her first romantic comedy since Something's Gotta Give), it all begins when two successful yet unhappy women connect through a home-swapping website, and decide to trade houses for the Christmas holiday in a mutual effort to forget their man troubles.
Iris (Kate Winslet) is a London-based journalist who lives in a picture-postcard cottage in Surrey, and Amanda (Cameron Diaz) owns a movie-trailer production company (leading her to cutely imagine most of her life as a "coming attraction") and lives in a posh mansion in Beverly Hills.
Iris is heartbroken from unrequited love with a cad of a colleague (Rufus Sewell), and Amanda has just broken up with her cheating boyfriend (Edward Burns), so their home-swapping offers mutual downtime to reassess their love lives.
This being a Nancy Meyers movie (where everything is fabulously decorated and romantic wish-fulfillment is virtually guaranteed), Amanda hooks up with Iris's charming brother Graham (Jude Law), and Iris is unexpectedly smitten with Miles (Jack Black), a super-nice film composer on the downside of a failing relationship.
Excellent film!!!

Kate Winslet is winsome while Diaz is endearingly kooky, staying at Iris’ picturesque cottage and on the back end of Law’s charms. Its a shame then that The Holidays attempts at revelling in its own clichés arnet pulled off, which leaves you wishing for the Lindsay Lohan/James Franco spoof actioner that Amandas been working on instead. The extras are definately worth missing..
Feel good chick-flick, based around a house swap between two women who have both reached a crisis in their love lives. Predictable plot, you know what to expect from this genre, but still it carries you all the way to the end and could make even the coldest heart a little warmer.
