Wonderful Point n Shoot

Very simple, very intuitive. Straight out of the box, this little camera takes excellent shots. So, they're never going to be DSLR quality, no compact can match those BIG lenses, but for something that you can carry round in a bag/ pocket, it takes pretty impressive shots.
Even viewed on a 14" screen, the shots look deep, colour is true and not saturated, and sharpness is better than any other compact I've had. I've had a Sony CyberShot W55 and a Fuji Finepix A800; the first returned to JLP because it took such bad shots, the second resigned to a sock drawer because it's big, eats batteries and also takes flat out-of-focus shots.
For the fussy, edge sharpness does drop off slightly, but if you're looking for perfection you'll have to go DSLR.
When you put this camera in Auto mode, face recognition, auto ISO and auto flash take care of all your worries. You may never need to tinker with the other settings, but if you do they are all logical and easily accessed. Strange thing to say in its favour, but you really don't need to read the manual. The most difficult bit about getting up and running is getting the mains plug components joined up (~hint, just force them!)
No regrets at all; perfect pocket camera.
