Hostel (DVD)

I must say I am most impressed by this horror film - the best thing Mr Tarantino has been involved with too!
I have seen many many horror films and this really is a chiller - Whatever you do don't read up about it before you see it or it will ruin all the plot twists!!!!!!!!
Just watch it! - Although be warned that it is quite gruesome towards the end and more than earns its 18 Certificate!!!

The film was ok, it was set in Slovakia so i could connect easily and the plot is pretty much layed out for you but it did make me feel sick!

WAY too much blood and pointless killings and everything the film has no true meaning just killing?? no practical reason for the killing

and guess what in hostel 2 you still don't find a clear answer and i am guessigng hostel 3 will be just the same as the other 2!

I would NEVER recommend this film to ANY1 under 18 as it really is sick and i would not recommend this for a couple for the night in, you will just be sick.

I ordered a DVD. It arrived loose in an ordinary envelope. Unfortunately it had been cracked ...I didn't bother to contact the seller as it was obvious by the way he packaged the DVD that he wasn't really interested in customer service.

i have never recieved the item even after numerious emails to the seller and openeing a dispute with ebay i havent heard anything from either the seller or ebay its people like this that put genuine sellers and buyers off ebay

After all the hype I was expecting a total blood fest! I have seen far worse on my daughters Playstation!

This is some movie!!!!

It starts kind of slow but soon builds momentum. I have been a splatter movie fan for many years now having gorwn up with Cronenburg and such (Tom Savini's effects being the master!!!) but this movie takes things to a new dimension. Its not easy coming up with a new twist to a horror movie. but this one hits the spot time after time.

The effects are very gory and the torture scenes are amazing. it even had me looking away in some scenes.

Unfortunately it doesn't show Slovakia in a very good light. having travelled extensively around this beautiful country I can understand why the countries leaders were up in arms about the movie. However I suppose all publicity is good publicity, who knows?

TO sum up I would recomend this movie to all fans of the splatter/horror movie genre.

this film is a blood fest ultra voilent and is quite sickening at some points but overall an ok film not for the faint hearted

thought it was going to be better than it was but never mind its an okay film though

a very good film if you are into your horror genre, contains alot of gorey scenes and it not a film for the faint hearted. well recommended if you like saw or any modern horror films!

Written and Directed by Eli Roth, Hostel tells the story of three young back-packers travelling through Slovakia. They become lured into a Hostel, which is actually part of a thrill-kill industry.
This movie contains very brutal scenes of torture, violence, strong language, and some drug use.
Hostel was billed as 'inspired by true events', but this has yet to be proven true.
My favourite part of the film, is without a doubt, the closing scenes! He deserves it!!!
Hostel part 2 is currently at cinema's nationwide!

i totally disliked this film..... i hate any films that have some woman getting raped in it..... this sort of thing should be banned from all films.............

Another good Tarantino film. It's a horror film intended to shock and disgust and it does that well. I've seen some gory stuff in my time and was still disturbed by this film. Colleagues of mine think Tarantino has gone too far this time. I think it's a good flick and should be seen if you're into horror, otherwise steer clear.

in some places it was hard to watch example where hecut his heels.aww! i brought it because my friend saw it and said its worth watching. she was right.i loved it.

I brought this purely because everyone went on about how 'gorey' it was and that it was 'horrific',, i watched a few trailers before and thought id give my stomach a test!
To my amazement i didnt really cringe once! I peronally am a true lover of all horror films but the graphics was poor, you didnt get to see much of the gore and the beginning of film seemed to go on forever! I brought and sold on, not really what id call a horror, it has the action but not alot to be honest!!

I love horrors.Idon`t dislike it.Ibrought it becausei did have it,but somone kept it and i did not get it back.

great dvd just dont watch it after you have eaten, this will be a future cult film with more to follow im sure. one you have to add to your collection

I bought it because it was a good movie which i saw before and decided i wanted to own it. It also arrived quickly and in good condition as described by the seller.

I bought this as I watched it when it was first released and I liked it instantly just for the ringe factor.. To start with you just know that things are going to go wrong but to witness some of the gore near the end was excellent. I honestly think that if a place like that existed people would be interested..

edge of your seat movie i decided to buy it because i heard from people it was a good film so i bought it i thought it was great i liked everthing about it

not my cuppa tea maybe for others.the 1st 10 mins was ok then i crashed out.
i woke up later 2 a bitty blood and gore.
i seen them toking on bongs in the dam that a fun bit.

In aggreement with many other reviews on this, the special effects are pretty damn awseome in places. This is however ruined when the Oriental lady at the end has her "eye" hanging out... which is pretty dire in comparison to the fact that she also appears to be lacking an eyesocket. In some places like this, it's cringe-worthy, but for what I consider to be a bit "naff", is more than compensated for in other parts of the film... ie/ the train station suicide =D.

The acting, especially when the charecters are tied to the chairs before being tortured is extremely good. It's almost very believable. I was impressed with that. I myself am a massive horror/blood/gore fan, but this isnt an impulsive film. There is a plot there. One which I assume most students can relate to. There is a significant general ignorance of culture all over the world, but more so here in Britain. Therefore, this film also serves as a detterant for anyone thinking of going to Bratislava for some poontang.

Quentin Tarantino unsuprisingly excells himself once again in this film as well.

Not to mention also that some of the best films in history have etched their way into peoples hearts and minds, mainly through catchphrases. This one is always going to be remembered for the hilarious, "Of course, my horse," and "Sneepur". Icelandic at it's best.

All in all, a very good film. Satifies appetites for gore and sadistic urges.
Highly recommended to anyone... except those with predispositions about their Achillies tendons.

Thank god i never seen this happen while staying any the Hostels i been to.
This is just a run of the mill horror realy not the worse film in the world but not the best.
