not much to say other than it is an original DVD in excellent condition for a reasonable price and it was sent in good time.

Great stuff. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this DVD. For me the best part was the travelling through Russia, Mongolia etc. I could have watched far more of that part of the journey. When they reached Canada and USA the journey was uneventful and slow compared to what they had been through.

There was some good humour from both Ewan MeGregor and Charley Boorman with its fair share of bad language,but nothing that was offensive. I would have liked to have heard Ewan sing and play guitar a bit more though.

This is a DVD that I certainly will watch again and can recommend to anyone who loves travel with a difference. Well done boys.

This is great viewing. After watching the Long Way Doen series on Television recently, I had to buy the previous series on DVD. 'Long Way Round'. It gives such a good insight into countries that you wouldn't normally visit and also into the way of life the people of these countries live. Ewan and Charley were great to watch, sometimes getting on really well and other time not so well. It was a great struggle to finish the Road of Bones in Russia, and they needed a lot of help to get over the swollen rivers, as most didn't have bridges. Can't wait for them to do another series.

I never thought anyone would inspire me to ride a motorbike but watching Charley Boorman and Ewan McGregor attempting this epic trip from London to New York has prompted me to try. This is the story of two great mates working through all sorts of adversity to travel round the world on their BMWs with a backup crew in 4 wheel drive vehicles. The filming comes across as completely natural and gives a good balance between the countries visited and the great relationship between the whole team. There's everything from great laughs to insights into different cultures to spectacular crashes. This is great entertainment value but also brings a very worthwhile cause to your attention. The team's visits to projects run by Unicef are eyeopening - most of us have no comprehension of the problems left behind by such disasters as Chernobyl and it is good to see this being brought to the public's attention. A great mix of the serious and the comic - excellent entertainment for all, whether you like biking or not!

Truly an excellent series... I didn't catch it all on TV but we bought it for Christmas and it's great... slightly unbelievable at times ie the police escorts and the blatant "Oh these lovely people are letting us stay here" when there's clearly money changing hands... but a brilliant series all the same - and an excellent soundtrack too! Love it!

I decided to buy 'the long way round' after watching the 'long way down', both are based on travelling across the world on motorbike starring the very handsome Ewan McGregor and charming Charley Boorman, it is perfectly filmed and gives you a inside look into places i would never get to vist in my life time...
lets hope there is more to come...

I am just married to a biker so really did not know what the fuss about but I was addicted!! Well worth watching - even gets you hooked. Great to see Ewan and Charlies friendship going through its ups and downs and the great things they have to conquer to get to their end destination

An excellent DVD for people who like bikes and travel with a bit of a documentary style. I enjoyed the DVD even though it was a couple of more fortunate individuals than most of us they still had to endure the long hours om the road, hats off to you guys. To top it off it was done to help raise the needs of a great charity so come on buy the DVD you wont be disappointed and you'll be helping a good cause

Interesting, funny, emotional and brilliant. I missed it when it was on the telly, make sure you watch this DVD.

Miles better than the sequel. A genuine adventure with two engaging and funny companions. They obviously take a real interest in the places they pass through and people they meet. The planning stuff at the start is particularly interesting.

The special edition is the one to go for, with additional footage.

Bought this a s Christmas gift for my husband.
We had watched the TV show following Ewan andd Charley on their travels and had thoroughly enjoyed it so bought the DVD to catch up on all the bits the TV didn't show.
I would recommend this to anybody, even if you don't like Motorbikes, Ewan McGregor or travel it is still a fascinating story full of fun, adversity, sadness and excitement.

What i liked about this DVD was the way everything seemed unscripted, if you've been watching some of the other travel films over Xmas you'll notice how everything seems to be setup for each film shot.. Let me explain. Michel Palin Round the world in Eighty days was on over the Holiday and every time he stops to speak to someone and enters thier home the camera mans already in the house long before he turns up, so how much is scripted when the film crew turns up and says Michael will turn up in a minute and we want you sitting here and he'll enter here and says this... you don't get any of this with the Boys on Long way Round, it really is just a round the world trip with cameras just strapped to their helmets, Excellent stuff well worth a watch if you have any interest in travel or Bikes. The people knocking this DVD have no Soul...

I brought this dvd for my hubby for xmas as he had never watched it,, he had watched the other trip they did and just like that book you can`t put down .. he was the same with this,, each time it ended he had to watch another one, we both actually enjoyed it...i would highly reccommend it, if you can watch the other dvd and there is also a dvd of charley going to dakar...must see them all..

This DVD is truely excellent in its production and content. It has captured the who atmosphere of the adventure throughout. With a good level of humour and personal input from the whole team. One to watch.

one of the only real adventures left, it was great it changed my life, i went out and did my bike license and got my self a bike , awsome.

This is a good entertaining dvd , you don't have to be into bikes to watch (my wife loved it).
Ewan and Charlie had a tough time and not a easy run for a couple of actors, they both came across as a down to earth bunch of lads not some pre-maddonas.
They struggle through some of the worst roads in the world and poor conditions...............buy it.

Love bikes? Love travel? Love Ewan or Charley? Then this DVD is a must for your collection. Ewan and Charley are both very charismatic, and their personalities and obviously genuine friendship are what make this documentary work. Without these elements the weaknesses of the composition would become much more apparent: there is ultimately a lack of focus on the countries and cultures they pass through. The focus is more on the two of them getting through it rather than the experience of being in it, and where the book takes the time to provide a little more insight the documentary skims through. Let me put it like this: if you had been the producer you might have considered taking one of three approaches - make it a real biker's road trip (by bikers for bikers), make it primarily a travel documentary with bikes as the form of transport (and get stuck into the cultures and people like Michael Palin in Around The World In 80 Days), or use the trip as a vehicle for the engaging personalities of (the world famous) McGregor and Boorman. The approach taken is the latter.
That's not meant to be negative. It truly is an engaging documentary and I would rate it 'good' rather than 'average'. I never got tired of watching McGregor and Boorman and I really enjoyed every single minute of it. I read the book before I watched the DVD and I would thoroughly recommend doing the same (in any order) as they complement each other well.
Finally, then: would I buy this DVD knowing what I know now? Yes I would.

I wanted to get this since I had been lent a copy of the programmes. I wanted my own copy of the series and it has given me great enjoyment watching the exploites of Charlie and Ewan.

This isn't one of the greatest films ever. not even close.
its not a great documentary either. passing all these areas and showing very very little scenes...
but, this is a MUST SEE for everyone around. because it shows 2 friends just getting on a bike and making their dream come true. I was inspired. I really was.
And this is the point of the documentary. It will take your mind of your couch and make you dream of running away from reality.

A+ for me!
