What can I say, anyone reading this probably already knows what the Star Wars trilogy is, probably the most famous movies ever made. Great cast, fantastic storyline and amazing characters. What was already a classic has just been made a legend in the 2004 trilogy. Digitally remastered, the lightsabers look better and a little tune up in some special effects make these DVD's an absolute must for any collection. I really just cant reccomend the Star Wars trilogy enough, way better than the newer ones (I II AND III) and really just fun for people of any age, from 5 to 55. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED

  Awesome boxset
Review created: 08/03/08

The most-anticipated DVD release ever contains Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope, Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI - Return Of The Jedi and will be available in a four-disc set that includes a bonus disc filled with all-new special features - including the most comprehensive feature-length documentary ever produced about the Star Wars saga and never-before-seen footage from the making of all three films. Each of the three films in the Star Wars trilogy has been digitally restored and re-mastered by THX for superior sound and picture quality.

Episode IV - A New Hope Luke Skywalker, a young farm boy from Tatooine, is thrust into the struggle of the rebel alliance when he meets Obi-Wan Kenobi, who has lived for years in seclusion on the desert planet. Obi-Wan begins Luke's Jedi training as Luke joins him on a daring mission to rescue the beautiful rebel leader Princess Leia from the clutches of the evil Empire.

Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back Three years later, Imperial forces continue to pursue the rebels. After the rebellion's defeat on the ice planet Hoth, Luke journeys to the planet Dagobah to train with Jedi Master Yoda, who has lived in hiding since the fall of the Republic. In an attempt to convert Luke to the Dark Side, Darth Vader lures young Skywalker into a trap in the Cloud City of Bespin...

Episode VI - Return Of The Jedi In the epic conclusion of the saga, the Empire prepares to crush the rebellion with a more powerful Death Star while the rebel fleet mounts a massive attack on the space station.

  Introducing the next generation
Review created: 06/03/08

Background
I bought this set as my 6 yr. old boy twins recently caught the Star Wars bug. I know there are sets out there with all 6 films, but episodes 1-3 are definitely for an older audience and I realise that it would be difficult to explain why they could only watch episodes 4-6 in a set of 6. So this seemed an agreeable compromise.

Price
Of course it also makes a difference in the price, with 4-6 sets like this one being less expensive because of the 1-6 sets out there.

Viewing experience
We've watched the movies as a family and, having seen the originals a number of times, the digital remastering makes a big difference, especially if you watch the films on a tv with a high screen resolution.

Longevity
The boys have seen the films for a second time already and compared to other films aimed at a similar age range, these films do capture their attention very well and have sparked hours of role play since as well as the acquisition of some Lego Star Wars sets. I anticipate that they'll get a couple of years of regular viewing pleasure out of them, with the added bonus of them picking up more and more nuances of the stories as they get older.

Film rating
This set is rated PG, even though the 3 films are all rated U. The PG rating is because there is an extra (PG rated) DVD in this set with hours of bonus material. I haven't watched this disc yet so in all honesty cannot comment on its content.

Summary
This set completely fits the bill for us but I would also recommend it to lovers of the original movies, as episodes 1-3 just don't completely cut it in my view.

Star Wars Trilogy DVD Boxed Set - The Original Films
Review created: 06/02/08
by:

Being old enough to remember the release of the original Star Wars films and previously owning copies on VHS, the opportunity to purchase the boxed set on DVD could not be missed. My young children enjoy all the Star Wars films, so purchasing DVDs ensures they will always be as good as the day they were made, in fact since they have been digitally remastered, they're better than when I originally saw them at the cinema. Star Wars films still remain relatively undated by the last 30 years.

A CLASSIC, THEY DO NOT MAKE FILMS LIKE THIS ANY MORE. THIS TRILOGY HAS EVERYTHING YOU COULD WANT IT WAS WAY AHEAD OF ITS TIME AND REMAINS A TIMELESS PEICE OF CLASSIC CINEMA. I DECIDED TO BUY IT FOR FOR 4 YEAR OLD WHO HAD TO GO INOT HOSPITAL FOR AN OPERATION AND I THOUGHT LONG AND HARD ABOUT WHAT WOULD HELP THOSE LONG HOURS TO PASS MORE QUICKLY - THE STAR WARS TRILOGY WAS PERFECT AND TOOK HIS MIND OF HIS PAIN. TO MY DELIGHT HE LOVES IT AS MUCH AS ME WHICH PROVES THAT IT CAN MOVE FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION AND WILL ALWAYS BE A FAVOURITE.

This was the original Star Wars released in the late 70s and had been "updated" for DVD. Excellent - as ever! A great "first" movie of a series - even if it was Episode 4.

How to get an iPhone, Wii, PS3 or 360 for nothing!

The Free iPhone Guide

To get yourself a free iPhone all you have to do is follow the 3 easy steps:

Step 1 : Sign up for a free iPhone
Sign up at the link below to get your free iPhone. We recommend this free iPhone site because it's been TRIED and TESTED to work.

http://Gifts.real-incentives.com/2992 (copy and paste into browser)

You can choose other prizes like free consoles from this site too! Make sure you use a real email address. Use your real details when you sign up so that the company knows where to send your iPhone! Remember that they have been proven legitimate, so will send you your free iPhone if you do everything legitimately!

Step 2 : Try an advertiser's offer
Basically all you need to do in this step is complete one of the offers, this is where the freebie site make their money, if you complete an offer then the freebie site will recieve commission for it. So if you complete Coral which will only cost you £5 to complete, the freebie site gets £25 from Coral. The two best offers are Lovefilm Free DVD rental (rent two DVD's, keep them for about 2 days, send them back and then cancel the trial) and Coral (bet £5 on a sport). I would reccommend you do Coral as it credits in an hour and is really simple to do, Lovefilm however can become complicated and takes up to 2 weeks to credit! You can also try one of the other offers, most are gambling offers. Don't skip this step! You must complete this step to get your free iPhone!

Step 3 : Refer some friends
This part is a lot easier than it seems, especially now with free iPhone sites getting so popular. There's lots of people online who want a free iPhone too, so start referring them! You only need to get a few signups before you'll be finished. You can ask your friends or your online buddies. I already got a free PS3, Wii, and XBOX Elite without even having to ask my friends for help - there's lots of people online who want a free iPhone like you! One of the easiest ways to get a referral is to do a favour for a friend and ask them to sign up in return. That way, you both can get a free iPhone!

Basic rules
Don't break these rules! This is the only reason that you won't get your free iPhone, so make sure you follow these rules!

- One account per household - don't use a public computer to sign up!
- Use real information - this is a proven legitimate site and they will not give out your information.
- Only complete each offer once! You cannot complete the same offer again, even for different freebies.
- Don't try to cheat the system. This site has been proven legitimate, and they will catch you if you try to cheat. If you do everything legitimately, by following this guide, you will get a free iPhone!

Thats all, just follow my guide and you will have your free iPhone in no time.

Thank you.

  star wars trilogy 4, 5 & 6
Review created: 05/12/07

I bought this as a christmas present for my 7 year old son. He wanted the older tilogy but I found it hard to get and also didn't want to pay dear for it because although he is star wars daft this month, it might be something else next month. I got a great present for a great price. One little boy is going to be delighted this christmas because thanks to ebay he is getting things I wouldn't normally have bought. The delivery was quick and uncomplicated and although the description stated box slightly damaged, one corner was only slightly dog-eared. It will be worse when my son gets it. It was a buy it now purchase that went for less than the auction ones and it meant I knew I was guaranteed to get it at a great price

The Star Wars Trilogy ..... REVIEW 1
Review created: 01/09/07
7 of 8 people found this review helpful.

After many countless releases of the original trilogy in both VHS and laserdisc format it was only inevitable that we would have these classics of movies presented to us on this new DVD format. In 1997 we were served up the Special Edition incarnations for what George Lucas originally tried to put to film and what a fuss it caused, splitting the fans into two camps, those who welcomed the freshening up and those who hated it.

The problem was that the tweaks were inconsistent with some changes adding and enhancing the movies whilst others took away from the core, such as Han no longer shooting first during his encounter with Greedo. This time around the changes a minor in scope yet major in impact. In Star Wars we have a better rendered speeder enter into Mos Eisley and a new model for Jabba the Hutt used in the restored scene with han now casting more obvious shadows onto the slug. Han and Greedo now shoot almost simultaneously with Han saying "Yes, I bet you have" as in the original. Leia's gunshots are proper laser shots now and Obiwan and Vader's lightsabers have more color in them yet still suffer from strobing issues. Empire now has Ian McDiarmid playing the holographic Emperor and the voice of Boba Fett is now that of Temuera Morrisson, Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones. Jedi rounds off the changes with a shot of Naboo in the final celebrations as well as Hayden Christensen's head replacing that of Sebastian Shaw in the final group shot of the departed Jedi. Decide amongst yourselves the merits of these changes.

As for this DVD boxset release itself, the long wait was certainly worth it the fourth disc itself is dedicated to special features and is what every Star Wars fan will treasure !!!!!!
