This is one of my best films, the cast is great, i mean its johnny Depp and Captain Jack, and Orlando Bloom as Will Turner,,,what more can you want. Other than that, the script is amazing, the acting is superb, and at the end of the film you cant wait to watch it again!!!!

This one gets 5/5 with its eyes closed and there hands tied behind there back.

Pirates of the Carri bean is for me one of the best films that are out there and for those that have not seen this then you haven't got the slightest idea what you are missing out on and this film is a priority to purchase.

With a cracking, eye popping cast, amazing story line, film effects and digitial enhancements, this is by far the film of its year.

i had already seen this film and because i had liked it so much i bought this copy for my daughter,and got a bargain.
daughter loved it, and i watched it again.

The speical effects in this film are out-standing. This film is a brilliant start to what i hope ands up being a brilliant trilogy.

Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography. I would recommend the director's cut that includes scenes about the relationship between the lead character and his estranged wife and helps you to understand the motivation behind his decision. The run time is 183 minutes for the directors cut and 120 minutes for the cinema version. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of extras, which any fan of this classic would expect to be included. There's only a 20-minute interview with the director and other shot "making-of" vignettes.

Story:
Loosely inspired by the a Disney theme-park ride, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL is a swashbuckling high-seas tale directed by Gore Verbinski. When camp Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), an eccentric rogue, arrives at Port Royal, he barely avoids going down with his ship. Soon enough, he's in the market for a new one, but not before he saves the life of Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), the beautiful daughter of the governor (Jonathan Pryce). This act of bravery sets into motion a sweeping adventure involving Elizabeth's childhood friend, blacksmith Will Turner (Orlando Bloom); a mysterious medallion; and a legendary pirate ship, the Black Pearl. The Pearl's mottled Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) wants Elizabeth's doubloon necklace, and when she's kidnapped by the ol' salty dog and his crew, Sparrow and young Will must rescue her and find out the truth behind the ship's curse.
Verbinski's PIRATES is a welcome throwback to Hollywood offerings of yesteryear, filled with rope-swinging heroes, crusty villains, treasure hoards, swift swordplay, and even wittier wordplay. Screenwriters Terry Rossio and Ted Elliott have crafted one of the most clever action-movie scripts in many moons, and this gives the filmmakers and cast (especially Depp) plenty of room to cut loose. Although the skeletal pirates may be a bit frightening for small children, there's lots of humor to temper the scary moments, making PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL a nearly flawless fun film.

Great movie for kids & teenagers, for people 30+ or so, this movie is a bit less amuzing.

A typical family movie, nice to watch around holidays or x-mass or so.

The film is aowsome, J Depp as Jack Sparrow is just great , its a MUST to own this great film. The DEAD MANS CHEST is also good fun to watch.I cant wait for the 3rd film.

I've seen this film before many times. I bought this copy as a present for my son. He enjoyed it too. A very funny and entertaining film. One of those films that get's you interested from the start and you can't look away. Johnny Depp plays a fantastic part and plays it well. I can't think of any other actors who could do what he does in anything near as good a performance.

The story, the actors, the directing and everything about this film makes it a must see classic.

(Don't hold your breath for part 2 - dead mans chest. Not a patch on the curse of the black pearl)

got a portable dvd player for my daughter for xmas , got these dvds as well as she loves these films

Several friends and my grandchildren had said how enjoyable the film was, so I thought that I would try it.
Initially, I thought it would be just a film for children but was happily soon devoid of these thoughts.
It was enchanting,enthralling,amusing and very entertaining for all ages.
Even my husband who normally enjoys horror,science fiction etc, really enjoyed watching it.
There was just the right mix of suspense and comedy and Johnny Depp was superb.
The combination of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow,Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbossa of the Black Pearl,Keira Knightley as Elizabeth and Orlando Bloom as Will Turner was unbeatable. Under the great directorship of Jerry Bruckheimer this film was destined to be a box office smash.
The scenery and special effects were fantastic and the second disc which came with Pirates of the Caribbean showed how all these were accomplished.
This second disc was very informative and interesting to watch. It covered all the aspects of how the film was made and facts about the actors and actresses.
Now we are looking forward to seeing the second film and hope it will be as good as the first one.
It was a pleasure to watch a film that brought back some of the Hollywood Glamour of the early years of films.
Real entertainment and escapism that films should possess. It left us feeling happy and entertained - a rarity in these days.

I would encourage anyone who hasn't seen this film to do so.

I enjoyed the film but it is essentially plotless. I hope the next film ties up most of jd's delightful rambling :)

The film was purchased for my girlfriend.
She enjoyed it so much that the following day she went and purchased pirates of the carrabian 1.

Truly a spectacular film to say the least

i have to say what a great film, johnny depp made this film. it was great. and i am so glad that i have watched it. all the action and adventure of what they go through and the visial effects were fantastic 10/10 i was gripped to the tv and i will never get board of this film i can watch this over and over again.

Very original film, excellently played by jhonny depp i think this may be the best film that he has ever been in as it is such a different part then all his other films.
He said he would never do a sequel but in this film he must have liked playing the part so much or maybe even the crap load of money he was being payed by disney, but anyway my point is the seccond one may even be better sertainly has better graphic sceens. Thanks for reading hope it helps

This item was bought for my daughter she loves all the main actors in it.
We all as a family went to see the second installment of this film and relised that we did not have the first one so I had to search for it on this site .The film was in great condition and has been watched on many occations.

love this film ! action packed a great length not too short or too long ! all mixed in the humor ! the err part (disgusting part) the scary parts etc, they have created a truly fantastic film and really do recommend it ! i really hope they create a second one! fantastic film thanks

i had borrowed the dvd from my local libary and i really liked it, i had to return it after a week but i liked it so much that i wanted one of my own so i looked on e-bay and brought this one. there is nothing i disliked about the film but i do particularly like the second dvd with all the 'behind-the-scenes/ making of it'.
also i had seen 'pride and prejudice' and really liked Keira Knightly so i thought i might like this, and i did!!!!!!!! i really like Johny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Penny Rose-(make up and costume designer) too!
this is a great film (i can't stop watching it- i nearly know all the words off by heart), full of humor, thrill, romance and action and so suitable for everyone!

What can I say? Johnny Depp at his best! Full of action and humerous quips, with a strong supporting cast.

I went to see this film in the cinema and I thought Johnny Depp was absolutely superb. I thought he was funny and made the film totally enjoyable.

This film is a breathtaking revival of the pirate adventure movie. The special effects are excellent, because they add to the action but don't substitute it and they don't take attention away from the story. The scenery detail is appropriate and the cinematography stunning. Johnny Depp, a great character actor, excels himself again.
The DVD has some nice extras including background on historical pirates and their ways. The whole package is great for repeated viewing

This is an excellent action packed family film, from the story to the special effects. With a brilliant cast there is nothing to disklike about it. It dose contain a few scary moments with mild violence, so not for very young children.
A must see for all. It is the special 2 disk set and even the second disk with interviews ext was very interesting. I bought it for my six year old boy, who had not seen it and wanted to see it before the release of the new "Dead Mans Chest"
I bought it on E-Bay because for some reason in the weeks leading up to the release of the second film I could not find it anywhere in the high street.
Try it you won't be disapointed.
