What was my decision to buy a Canon EOS 10D camera
Review created: 03/06/09

I have owner a Canon EOS 100 camera for many years.Profesionaly, befof I retired>The canon gave me everything I required from a Camera.Flexability.quality.and results equal to many more expensive cameras.Having brought a small digital camers,of high quality.I became disalusioned .It was slow, too small and did not suit my large hands and my personallity.SO i looked around.I decided on Canon, because I have canon lens and equipment.I started at the bottom with the D30 and D60.Good camers but limited. My EOS 100 was better.ThenI looked at the 10D/20D and 30d.deciding that was as far as I was prepaired to go in price. The specification of the 10D was great. The 20 and 30D were a little better in specification.but I did not think the increase in price over a 10D,was warrented. So I looked in EBAY for some weeks, looking at prices that they were going fof,After several trys at bidding, being out bib because of price,I was sucessful, and became the proud owner of a !10D camera. The sellers description was modist. The camera exceeding my expectations.Near mint condition, with a standard lens, and full backup from the seller.Having used the camera for some weeks,I am very pleased with my decision. The camera is heavy, heaver than my EOS 100.but about the same size.A lot more complicated, with much more to learn. But you can use it in a point and shoot mode, with no problems, and obtain outstanding results. The 6.5 megapixels gives more than enough resolution for prints upto A3 sixe, and more if you only enlarge a portion of the frame. It has given me a new lease of life to my photography. It takes all my lens's and equipment,my onlt disapointments have been due to my inability to understand the complexity of the camera. With digital this is a small price to pay.No film costs, and printing costs.Just delite what you do not require and keep the rest.I love this camera, and I am amased at the sofistication and complixity of it.I discover something new every time I use it.I havenot found a downside to it.Maybe its too large and heavy to put in your pocket, and with extra lens you need a bag.But If you are like me a keen photographer, looking for excelence in your pictures.then look at one of these. You would not be disapointed.I still talk to my seller, gleenig information and advice when required.Great Camera,Great buy, what more could you require.

  Getting on
Review created: 02/06/09

Bought one of these about a month ago. Build quality seemed better then the more modern budget SLRs (350D)

Took some really nice pictures then broke. Only had it working for 2 weeks, took about 100 shots and 'Err 99' every time you take a picture.

Wouldn't recommend, they're getting on now. It seems 'Err 99' is a very common failure.

Guy I bought it from told me to go away, so a waste of money!

Canon EOS 10D digital SLR camera.

Bought this off ebay with a faulty shutter button - repaired that but for some reason after putting the camera back together found the pop up flash had stopped working. Tried everything apart from buying a new flash circuit board from Canon (which they had run out of) so I gave up and resold it at a loss (as usual). This camera is getting on a bit now, is built like a tank and weighs as much - its all very well having a nice metal body but you do get a bit weary lugging it around.
The pictures have always come out soft on these cameras, even at the max sharpness setting (I have had more than one and they are all the same!!) - I like my pictures to be sharp straight out of the camera.
The colours look more natural though, much better than newer cameras which seem over saturated.
I've had my fill of Canon for now, have gone back to Nikon with a D50.
You get good sharp pictures out of this and it doesn't weigh a ton!!
Phil

  Canon 10D - Used
Review created: 24/12/08

I have always had a soft spot for this camera. With out real reason other than it being the first digital SLR that I really wanted. Now having got one I love it, it is perhaps not as good as some of the newer offings from Canon, it's a tad slower to start up, but it's 6mp is plently for all I need, in fact it is enough for all except professional image makers. You will see a better image from a great lens than a sightly bigger sensor!

  Going digital
Review created: 07/12/08

I have been thinking of going digital for a while; the Canon EOS10D is a lovely camera, it feels solid in hand, and has a good balance about it; it has an APS sensor, and you need to be aware of the need to multiply the focal length of the usual EF lenses by 1.6. The camera feels so good, the standard kit lens does not do it justice.

  Canon EOS-10D Digital Camera
Review created: 22/09/08

Not for the beginner but it has every feature that a creative photographer could want.

I always had SLR film cameras in the past and this is just amazing.

It needs a lot of patience to learn to get the best from it and you have to read the manual a good few times to get the best from the camera. But hey if you want to point and shoot go to Argos and buy a little one.

6 Million pixels is not a lot but test shots I have taken get up to A3 with no noticable pixelation and I have gone a lot further than that on screen.

I love it.

  Excellent camera at excellent price
Review created: 16/09/08

The Canon 10D is an excellent camera for students, hobbyists or even those looking to start professionally. It offers the options of using completely automatically, completely manually or a combination of your own preferences. As with all digital SLRs is it quite heavy duty but has a feeling of strength and ruggedness to it. It is very similar to the 1D, offering anything you could possibly need up to a mid-professional level, but a far more affordable option for those of us who aren’t ready to scale up into the thousands of pounds bracket just yet! Being a Canon also gives it access to an excellent range of lenses, and I have found that the majority of my friends, teachers and colleagues shoot Canon so I always have plenty of people to borrow from :)

  Canon EOS - 10D Camera
Review created: 07/04/08

I was looking to get started in DSLR photography and looked at the entry level camera but decided to go for a 10D Canon instead. I think it was the right choice. Although the pixel count isn't very high it does have some great features and for the price you pay second hand this is a great starting point for anyone.
