I have found it hard to obtain at a reasonable price, but it was advertised and I bought it for what I thought a reasonable price, and it was delivered two days later. Excellent service.

The book for this is excellent. The DVD was a bit of a let down as it was over embelished and at times far fetched as though to appeal to the very BBC Britishness of how we should percieve the French. It would probably have been much better if I has seen the DVD before reading the book.
Either way, it is still well worth watching.

A Brit couple settle in rural france, perfection?
) A great one to stretch over a couple of nice cosy evenings in.
Discover the ups and downs of life in Provence for the english couple. Experience Frustrations of their local trades followed by the excentricities of their forraging neighbour make early life a real eye opener, but settle in to a truely heart warming story that you will return to time after time. The rural back drops are quite special.

A year in the pastA timewarp of the early days of the Brits' love of Provence, the late great John Thaw in the main role of a man's move to an European idyll. Whilst Provence has itself moved on, as has society indeed, this is a very good dramatisation of the famous Peter Mayle work.
If nothing else, enjoy the scenery and the naive thoughts of a life in France being a dream location - even if there is a credit crunch in the real world of 2008.

I devoured the book, watched the original television series and owned the video of this wonderful account of Peter Mayle's foray into French life.
Sadly, when my video recorder was replaced by a DVD player the tape was relegated to the back of the cupboard and it was only when my family and I decided to move to France that the memories of the story re-surfaced and I wanted to watch it again, this time with my children who were too young to appreciate it first time round!
Instead of trawling through endless stores I, by chance, looked on e-bay and to my delight found a copy that was in perfect condition and now takes pride of place in my DVD collection!
