What Women Want (DVD 2001)

Mel gibson, lets be honest is a manly man. this film is a new twist on him as an actor but more importantly a great insight to the womens mind.
this review is for the guys, not because i slate women but more because i hope men will watch this film and learn a little something about the complexed mind of the woman.

Mel plays Nick marshall, an advertising exec, who when asked to sample some ladies cosmetic items has an epithany, when waking realises he can hear womens thoughts. a great gift you may think until it becomes apparent he can hear all thoughts of all women.

Imagine being a guy and having a nice moment with the lady of your dreams only to hear in her mind things are not as great as you believed.

Enter helen hunt, the love interest.darcy maquire. Darcy is hired by the company as Nicks boss, and is well aware of his failings as a womaniser. Nick uses her thoughts to change the opinion she has of him and more importantly the feelings.

Men, watch this film, it is of course girly but will make you realise that all men believe they are the alpha male and they can do know wrong! this will put you straight.

Well done to Nancy myers for a triumph of a film, very funny and also educational.

The idea that a man is able to eaves drop on women's thoughts is a good one. The idea of casting Mel Gibson as the man is also a good one. Unfortunately every other idea director Nancy Meyers and writers Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa had wasn't so good. The result being that What Women Want is a sprawling and tedious romantic comedy that lacks conviction and more alarmingly, romance.

After an accident the gorgeous mel gibson can hear womens thoughts and starts to use them for his own purpose, a very funny film, can be watched over and over again without getting boring.

all round good film.for everyone to watch.very funny .mel gibson playes a fine part.makes you wonder what life would be like if men could read womens minds.probable fantastic.

A very enjoyable film with clever script and great acting. I bought this film because i am a mel gibson fan and thought it must be worth watching if he is in it. Actually i am very glad i did and must say a thoroughly enjoyed every minute. I also bought the pacifier with vin diesel for about the same reason and also enjoyed that film to. Great Family entertainment !

What women want is a smashing romantic comedy. But in all fairness for all men unlucky with women out there, you should be taking notes from this film. It may be a comedy but most of its is actually true. Although I shouldn’t try sitting in the bath with the hair dryer on just to get Gibsons special power, it really isn’t such a wise thing to do. The only let down to the film for me was the fact I cant help thinking that Helen Hunt is cheating on Paul Reiser a bit after the TV show Mad About You. But over all this is a lovely film, perfect for a nice evening with a glass of wine by the fire.

I really don't like Mel Gibson as an actor but he is quite funny in this film. A witty and sometimes moving story of how a man finally understands what a woman wants. It still broaches on the side of being sexist but is good for a night in with the gals or on your own with some delicious ice cream :-).

Very good quality dvd, thanks alot for selling! I saw the dvd awhile ago and really wanted it on dvd as im starting a dvd collection, if you have any good cheap dvds i would be more than happy to take a look, Thanks Tim.

I found this to be a lighthearted yet interesting film. Very entertaining. I imagine many men would consider this to be a "chick flick" but I think a lot of men could actually learn something useful by watching it(as well as being thoroughly entertained).

One thing I might have changed-
maybe have a few more persons of non-white origin in the film who are not stereotypical.

A great piece of comedy fiction. With an unusual plot this film starts off good and ends even better. I would recommend this film to anyone who is in need of an uplift. It's the sort of film that you watch many times as you play it for visitors. Highly recommended by me.

I love this film to bits deffo one to watch. I decided to buy as ive seen the film before and really enjoyed it and now i can watch it at any time

WHAT WOMEN WANT IS A GREAT ROM.COM.!! THE OUTCOME IS EXPECTED BUT THE MEANS OF GETTING THERE ARE NOT .. TYPICAL PLAYER FINDS THAT THE B*TCH THAT TOOK HIS PROMOTION IS, IN FACT, THE LOVE IF HIS LIFE .. LOVE IT!!

I love this movie, it`s funny, entertaining and tells a lot about men and women. Recommended for everyone.

love this film its so true lol. mel gibson and helen hunt have great on screen chemistry. the plotline is good and it is easy on the brain to watch great film

Great for a night in with a take away and some light humour - will have you giggling away! One for the girls.

wouldn't all men just love to know what us woman think sometimes, but if they could would they handle it, very funny film.

Now, initially I thought that having this power would be great. Being able to appreciate what a woman really wants would be such a power, however, through watching this film I realise that with the good, comes the bad. Women basically think the opposite to what they say - watch out lol.
A v.funny film, and a great watch

This film does not even raise the eyebrows of any female, that I know, that has watched it...this film does not really allow women to learn anything about men. Nothing that they didn't already know, anyway.

Why-oh-why do all the men that have watched it feel that they have learnt something amazing about women and how they think?

The main (Male) character 'Nick Marshall' played by Mel Gibson, does not have any problems attracting women, or so the audience is lead to believe...it appears that they swoon at his charm and wit. Most men wish they could have an easy rapport with women and have them laugh at their jokes and show an interest in their ideas etc.

It isn't until 'Nick' has a rather 'unfortunate' accident in his bathroom that he is in the 'fortunate' position to 'understand' the women around him. The first things he learns is what the females in his life, both at work and around him generally, truly think...and who would have believed it???

There is not a man alive that would not love to have this 'ability'. To be able to 'listen' to women and actually 'hear what they say'. To 'Hear' a woman talk and then 'understand' what it is she actually meant...

This is a great film and the leading lady 'Darcy McGuire' is played very well by Helen Hunt. It is through 'Darcy' that we men will learn a lot about womens thought processes...if we just listen closely enough.

All in all a very good film that will have a some of the less 'fortunate' men in the world locking themselves in the bathroom with a hair dryer. Thank god for electrical trip switches eh?

Love this movie because mel gibson is in it & is a 'Feel good film'

Every guys dream turned into a chick flick. Although guys will be able to totally relate. Mel Gibson casts off the Lethal weapon stereo type cast and does his best to relate to women. A few heart warming moments and plenty of in joke laughs.

It was okay but I wouldn't bother to watch it again. For me it lacked conviction. I suppose it would help if I fancied Mel Gibson but he just doesn't have that 'wow' factor and comes across as being a bit of a leach in my opinion.
