AFTER MANY YEARS OF WATCHING AMERICAN WAR MOVIES ABOUT WAR AND GETTING KIND OF BORED WITH THE SAME OLD PLOTS AND ACTORS I WAS VERY SURPRISED TO FIND AN ACTOR LIKE NICK CAGE DOING A WAR MOVIE SO I THOUGHT I WOULD GIVE IT A GO, AND I AM SO GLAD I DID WHAT A NICE CHANGE TO HAVE A REAL LIFE STORY ABOUT WHAT THE NATIVE AMERICANS DID FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE WAR INSTEAD OF THE USUAL WAY OTHER RACES AND COUNTRIES WERE FORGOTTEN. NICK CAGE WAS AT HIS BEST AND THE UNUSUAL ROLE SUITED THE ACTOR.10/10

This film is without a doubt for me one of the best war films i have ever seen.

Nicolas Cage stars in this best war movies of all time .
Based on the World War 2 BATTLE OF SAIPAN where native indians had their own code which was NEVER cracked by the Japanese.

This is a very action based film bring all the action right in front of you and for those of you with surround sound make the most of it .

I really dont want to say too much cause you should buy this movie, excellent for a good night in with a bottle of wine of some beers and a take-a-way.

Ok so this film will not win any awards for originality and all the standard prerequisites for a gritty war drama are present and correct in spades; base the film on a true emotional story - check, provide the usual suspects for central characters (various war torn rugged hardcore veteran marines, fresh faced naive newbies, southern hicks, world wise generals etc) - check, have the goodies going up against impossible odds - check, provide enemy soldiers who are rubbish shots - check, allow the usual smattery of Hollywood Schmaltz - check, throw in a liberal amount of flashback scenes - check. But this is a solid and enjoyable watch and a film worth seeing. The battle scenes are disturbing and grotesque, there are lots of bodies flailing about to random bullet wounds and fatal explosions a la the beach scene in Saving Private Ryan, and they do graphically show the true horribleness of war. The scenes of bonhomie between the Marines are well acted. Cage is great, as usual, playing the veteran Marine torn between duty and friendship and the Navajo Indian Code Breakers are good characters. Plus any film that has Christian Slater in a bunker outgunned and outnumbered and about to be taken apart by a viscous enemy has got to be worthy in my book. A good film.

i really liked this film it is one that keeps you interested in whats going on the battles are great i do not normally like this sort of film but this one is worth watching.

Windtalkers is in another league to some war films. It tell sthe total self sacrifice made by normal people on times of conflict. The Americans found the language of the Navajo indians was a code the Japanese just could not break. To protect the code, each "windtalker" was given a bodyguard. each bodyguard was to protect the code at all costs.. even if it meant them killing the windtalker.
Nicholas Cage puts in his usual excellent performance. Christian Slater is superb too. A humbling film to watch.

This film stars Nicholas Cage and is based on his time serving in the US Marines during their battle for Sapian in the Pacific during WW2.

Joe Enders (Cage) and Ox Anderson (Christian Slater) are tasked with protecting the Navajo American codetalkers Ben Yahzee (Adam Beach) and Charlie Whitehorse (Roger Willie). Who have been trained to use a secret military code based on the native language, it was the only one never broken by the Japanese and ws the key to winning the war in the pacific.

The marines mission was to protect the code and all costs but as the bonds of war are forged how far will they be forced to go to stop the code falling into the Enemies hands?

another excellent nicohlas cage film!! you will love it from start to finish!! plenty of action!!! a definate must buy!!

Nick Cage gets medals for just being there at the start, and then becomes a bodyguard, not for Whitney, but a Navajo Indiebum, who has to learn a code based on his on language, sounds double dutch to me, seeing as most Japanese wouln't even know what a Navajo is let alone speak the language. If the Indiebum is going to be captured then Nick has to kill him, in case he betrays the code. Ends up getting killed himself !

I am a fan of Nicolas Cage, i try to get all is movie , i think is a great actor, the film himsef very taching when you think what really happend at the front, i liked the film very much.

A great War movie based on facts. Rather violent but realistic. Nothing fancy about this dvd, just plain US guys caught in a war they don't like or want, to the point of near mutiny.Nicholas Cage play a great part as the leader.

Price, excellent film and enjoy buying through ebay - also i am a keen collector of war films and have a vast collection. But for some reason did not have this film

This film is the most amazing film in the enitre world, and stars great actors like Nicolas Cage!
I bougt as I had seen it before a lot of times but I had never owned it so I decided to buy for a christmas present for some one else. The film was great. It was about some Navero people who were trained to be code talkers for the US army. Their names were White Horse and Yazhee and they were teamed up with Joe Anders and Ox. There job was to protect the code so if one of the Navero got caugth they had to kill them to protect the code, and the american soilders. When Joe and Yahzee become friends Joe feels he can't complete his mission.
This is a perfect film for any war addict.
Great film from start to finish and does not disappoint.

I bought this film as a present. I was told this was a really good film for an older person, havent watched it myself so sorry cant describe what it is about

Great action scenes, but a bit predictable. Not as good as Thin Red Line or Iwo Jima, but well worth watching.

I THOUGHT THIS WAS A GREAT FILM . NICHOLAS CAGE DID SOME GREAT ACTING IN THIS FILM GREAT STORY LINE. WOULD RECOMEND YOU BUY EVEN IF YOUR NO FAN OF CAGE ITS A REALLY EXCELLENT FILM .

I saw it on the tv and thought I'd like to have it in my collection. I''m not usually a fan of Nicolas Cage films but this one was excellent and made more interesting by being based on a true story.

An excellent film which explores Nicholas Cages relationships with duty, command and a man he has to protect but may ultimately be required to kill. An interesting and moving story, based in part on fact but refreshingly not overplayed Holliwood stylee. Well worth a watch.

Nicholas Cage not my favorite actor but plays an excellent part as a US marine sergeant torn between duty and friendship. Not a family film due to the violent scenes and horric injuries associated as you would expect with the last stand of the Jananese army on the island of Siapan prior to what would of been the American forces invading the main land of Japan! Good story line of Navajo indians being recruited as code talkers to ensure communications could not be de-ciphered.

The film itself is excellent as others have already mentioned in detail.
5.1 surround sound effects are awesome, worth it just for this.
