i brought this film just beacuse i thought it looked interesting. after watching it i believed i had made the right choice. i don't see why everyone hates this film so much. the battle scenes draw you in and then afterwards you gt a real feeling of how war affects people. it may not be the best film but i have seen many worse. i would rather watch windtalkers than apocalypse now. The effects are impressive but i was expecting that as it is a john woo film. This film has action, friendship and tragedy which is always a good combination for a war film. so dont be put off by what other people say view it yourself and then decide.

Windtalkers - US Marines Navajo Indian code WW2
Review created: 03/11/07

This film stars Nicholas Cage and is based on his time serving in the US Marines during their battle for Sapian in the Pacific during WW2.

Joe Enders (Cage) and Ox Anderson (Christian Slater) are tasked with protecting the Navajo American codetalkers Ben Yahzee (Adam Beach) and Charlie Whitehorse (Roger Willie). Who have been trained to use a secret military code based on the native language, it was the only one never broken by the Japanese and ws the key to winning the war in the pacific.

The marines mission was to protect the code and all costs but as the bonds of war are forged how far will they be forced to go to stop the code falling into the Enemies hands?

This film runs for 2 hrs 9 mins

  A CLASSIC

Nicolas Cage & War go together like Manchseter & City.

This is by far one of the best, if not the best war film I have ever seen.

The acting, storyline and action is something only to be in awe of.

From start to finish you love the film.

Sad ending, tissue may be needed.

Buy it, it'll be wrong not to.

  How? With Navajo's of Course!

Thoughtful and provocative. Being a Nicholas Cage fan, I was surprised to find him playing such an unsympathetic character. There seemed to be an element of Saving Private Ryans visceral violence, but I felt that the movie underplayed the true horror of the war scenes, to sheild the viewer and for that I was thankful.
On the whole a fascinating insight into a portion of the second world war that hasn't been told before. I could have watched more of it, but I can see how the subject matter is not everyones cup of tea.
