Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory (DVD 2000)

What can i say about the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory...what an absolute classic and a must for every household. I bought this because i had my first baby...a daughter...i knew that when she was old enough she will love it. By far more superior to the recent remake. Gene Wilder is brilliant and a definate feel good movie!!!

Definately the best version. This is the one for kids - no spooky Johnny Depp AKA Mr Jackson! no this is the one of the book the one where the are orange this is the one to watch!

An Old classic for children, and way better than the new one they tried to re-create with Jonny Depp.This allows your children to transport themselves into the sweety factory and dream what it would be like.

This is my 6 year olds favourite book ( read many times! ) so was perfect to buy the DVD. Now he points out the differences between the book and the DVD - but will be watched again and again.

Gene Wilder runs a very private chocolate factory and decides to have a competition where 5 lucky winners can find a Golden Ticket that gives them entry for one day into the Chocolate Factory. He hides 5 tickets in his famous Wonka Bars. People go mad all over the world with this chance to see inside the strange factory and meet the weird man who owns it, Willy Wonka. Eventually 5 kids find the bars with the Golden Tickets in. From all walks of life. Their journey has just began. Why did he have such a competition? Boats and chocolate waterfalls, singing dwarfs, candyland, magical mixtures and tastes and rooms full of childrens favourite things.

I found this movie delightful and Gene Wilder is great in it. Suitable for all ages( even big kids like me). A real feel good movie. Classic. It will take you away to another place and leave you feeling happy , like eating grannies homemade cherry pie..

Already own Charlie and the chocolate factory, so being a dvd collector, this was a must so as my children now have a choice of which version to watch.

I like it cause it's funny and has a very nice story.I can't say I dislike anything about it and bought it cause I saw it when I was young and I really liked it.

Excellent movie my daughter loved it much better than the new version with Johnny Depp. a must for the kids

My 5 year old son loves the story book and we all love the orginal movie. We bought a copy as we love movies and like to be able to watch films as and when we like.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is one of the all time classic children's' films ever made and even after some 30 years since its original release, this version remains as fresh, as bright, as delightful and as exciting as ever.
It's the classic tale of the poor little boy who makes good when deprived Charlie Bucket finds one of only 5 golden tickets hidden inside bars of famous Wonka chocolate. The tickets give the winner entry for the day into the fabulous and top secret Wonka chocolate factory and to meet the even more famous inventor Willy Wonka. Charlie joins the other 4 finders of the golden tickets, a motley crew of horrible children of varying bad habits, for his wonderful day out in WonkaLand.

What I really like about the film is the trip around the factory is just a real visual delight around every corner with its madcap inventions, chocolate river, crazy machinery and absurd take on everyday life.

The other thing I really think the film does well is that it has an almost sinister side to it. Willy Wonka himself is not the friendly old uncle he seems at times, at moments he turns on the children and positively scares them to death. The Oompa Lumpas are also not the cuddly cute little men they first seem and I'm sure they have induced many a childhood nightmare. I think this element is good as it stops the film becomes to sickly sweet and keeps the action on edge.

I think the final word can be that I remember this film delighting me as a child and when my own children watched it recently they too were totally taken into the story and watched entraced for the duration.

It is simply a classic! Seen it hundreds of times but actually bought it for my 4 year old daughter! This film is living proof that original films are 9 times out of 10 always the better version!

I decided to buy this dvd for my little boy as the actuall film was on tv at christmas and he loved it!It is one of the good old films to watch.I havent seen the modern version so i cannot compare old to new but i can assure people this is a lovely family movie!

a fabulous film from my childhood that my children now enjoy - a weird, but timeless classic! I would recommend this film to anyone who enjoys the book.

because my neice lends us the video so we decided to buy our own as we like it so much. it is a film that we have wactche since i was a child abd now my boys and following in their mothers footsteps and enjoying it too.

We decided to buy this for our 6 year old as it was a lot better than the re-make with Johnny Depp.

we had this film (willy wonka and the chocolate factory) on video and my son had watched it many times so i was thrilled when i saw it on ebay on dvd....great film,all round family entertainment,must have for any family....well this is my opinion.

What can you say about the film, Its great. Great for the young and old and anywhere in between. It may have been made a few years ago before all the computer special effects, but this film is great just as it is.

This is one of the best children's films ever made. Brought back a lot of happy memories and was an excellent buy!

How can you not love this childrens classic. fantastic entertainment for children and adults alike. Gene Wilder as the original Willy Wonka is weird and kooky - fantastic acting.

My children watched the remake of this, and I told them the original was better.

So I bought the original, they watched it ..... and they agreed with me !!!!!

I love this DVD because it is a film I adored as a child myself and is now loved by my almost 2 year old daughter.
There are no extras with this dvd but they aren't required to be honest. You either love it or hate it and its songs, and particularly the oompaloompas. DVD format and scene selection is very useful for getting straight to the scenes that she prefers. Its on now (augustus is stuck in the pipe as I speak). As an adult there are loads of things that you just don't "get" as a child and it is rather refreshing. Are you a Wonkerer?

i bought this item because my 2 year old son absolutely loves it and i went everywhere and could not get it on dvd as they had sold out, so i decided o look on ebay and found it..this was not a copy as quite a few on ebay are..the quality is fantasic...what can you say my son loves it and watches it every day...
