Left alone for the weekend, they use Wyatt's computer to create Lisa, a stunningly beautiful woman with a body that stops traffic, a heart of gold, and a genius IQ. The boys embark on an adventure with their creation, going to bars, driving Ferraris, throwing a killer party, and keeping Wyatt's psychotic older brother, Chet, in check. But in the end, they learn that wearing cool clothes, hanging out with cool kids, and being popular might not solve all their problems. Written and directed by the king of teen flicks, John Hughes, this film was released after 'Sixteen Candles' and in the same year as 'The Breakfast Club'. Like many of his films, Hughes's 'Weird Science' is set in fictional Shermer, Illinois. A young Robert Downey (without the 'Jr.') appears as Ian, a cool kid who takes pleasure in tormenting Gary and Wyatt.

Reviews Review created: 11/07/08 by: For the life of me I will never remember the two main actors names. But laugh my ass off everytime I see this. From beginning to end, you know how these guys are feeling. First scene. Getting there shorts pulled down in front of all the girls in the school gym. Brilliant. My favourite scene is when they are in the toilet. The one liners. " Your dropping wolf bate and theres chicks outside". And the rest will make you cry till your aching. If you never seen this , buy it. I`m going to watch it right now. Review ID: 10000000007945246 Was this review helpful? Report this review Such a Funny Film I have always Loved it. Pre-Ferris Bueller, Hughes made some other famous films (Breakfast Club, 16 candles) but this is the cheekiest of the lot. Two geeks (natuarally) combat their geekdom by using early internet to create a woman! It's not as stupid as it sound! There's some brilliant characterization and narrative that sparks with humour and off the wall moments. A note has to be said for Anthony Michael Hall who is outstanding as a pre-testicles dropped teenager. Review ID: 10000000005741406 Was this review helpful? Watching again now, you're reminded of the outrageous fashion and music that were around at the time. The film also has that wonderful innocent and happy feel to it, like so many of the 80s films such as Breakfast Club and Pretty In Pink. It's very dated now but a great film that makes you recall what a fantastic time it was to grow up in. Review ID: 10000000004336351 Was this review helpful?
