Watchmen (DVD)

Delivery speed was acceptable but I was quite dissopointed by the quality of the product, the case was covered in loads of black scratches which could not be cleaned off and the disc had quite a lot of scratches on it (which was expected)

Not a super negative review but my main complaint was the condition of the case

I watched a trailer on the internet and decided to buy the film. i wasn't dissapointed i found it to be a great film

THIS FILM IS A BIT SLOW STARTING, AND IS A VERY DARK AND DISMAL FILM! SPECIAL EFFECTS ARE VERY GOOD THOUGH!! BUT ALL IN ALL ITS MISERABLE!

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THIS DVD ISTHAT IT FOLLOWS THE GRAPHIC NOVEL TO THE LETTER IT IS VERY ADULT IN ITS VIEW OF WHAT THE WORLD WOULD BE LIKE IF THERE WAS SUPER HEROES IN IT.IT WAS A VERY EXCITING WITHOUT BEING TO OVER THE TOP,IT WAS PART MYSTERY AND PART ACTION IT HAD DRAMA AND COMEDY.I HAD READ THE GRAPHIC NOVEL AND IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST I HAD EVER READ.IT WAS BY ONE OF MY FAVERITE WRITERS ALAN MOORE AND THIS FILM CAPTURED IT PERFECLEY.

A wonderful adaptation of a classic graphic novel. Alan Moore at his finest only to be beat by the killing joke.

this film is a really graffic take on the comic books. it is not to everyones taste but it is to mine and i loved every minute. this film is up there with the great comic book adaptations a+

one of the best book to film adaptations I have seen and possibly the only really good movie I have seen this year.
While I felt some important bits from the book were left out of the film, the storey did not suffer badly from it.
I have read many books and gone to see the film with eager anticipation only to leave feeling like I had been robbed of the ticket price and 2 hours of my time, as well as having the books I loved ruined by a bad adaptation.
After seeing this in the cinema I could not wait to buy the DVD to enjoy the film again.
Finding bits I had missed the first time.
The storey is never over shadowed by the special effects and the effects never let the story down.

The characters are all perfect and flawed Allan Moore has created another classic.

Fairly quick delivery, i had a problem with the dvd playing/skipping in certan parts of the film. makes me miss 15-20 mins of it!. could be better

I'm quite glad I never saw this at the cinemas as I'm sure I would probably have struggled to sit through its entire 2 and a half hour running time. I'm convinced actually that for anyone who is not familiar with the Watchmen comic book franchise (like myself) that the first fifteen minutes or so is the most complicated bit of cinema ever put to film. It took until about 45 minutes in before I started to get a handle on the characters, plot, who was who and just where the film was trying to go. I'm not a real comic book fan but taking a franchise like "X-Men" as an example, it's not really necessary for a viewer to know the comic series inside-out. With "Watchmen" though, having some knowledge of the comics is probably a necessity. Sure you can do what I did and come into the film blind as just another superhero-type movie, but you probably won't enjoy it nearly as much. What I've just seen certainly hasn't persuaded me to go out and seek out the comic as it just didn't engage me that much.

Sure, Malin Åkerman and Carla Gugino look good in their respective "Silk Spectre" crime-fighting costumes, as after all, what woman wouldn't look good kicking some ass in heels, stockings and suspenders? Thing is though, that the opportunities to perve over this fine sight are few, and instead the film focuses mainly on Jackie Earle Haley's "Rorschach" character, some vigilante guy who wears a mask with moving ink-blots on. You know how "X-Men" always seems to push the character of Wolverine to the front of the pack, I get the feeling that Rorschach is the "Watchmen" equivalent. Frankly though, I prefer my crimefighters female and in latex and heels. More screentime for the Silk Spectre next time please !!

I struggled with following this film until at least an hour in, probably due to my unfamiliarity with the franchise rather than any problems with the movie as a whole. As such, it's not really my favourite superhero film. Nowhere near. It's quite watchable and above average for the genre, it's just that I'm not a comic book fanboy so probably can't appreciate it as much. 6/10
