The War Of The Worlds Live (DVD)

After Loving the original on Vinyl and Cd's decided to get this as i wasn't able to go to the Show in my home Town.

Watching this you are in awe of the music and visuals as it is played out in front of you.

A must buy for anyone that Likes War Of The Worlds

I couldn't get tickets to see the show so I reluctantly thought I'd treat myself to the DVD.

After searching around I managed to find the Special Edition version (2 discs) at a good price here on ebay.

When I received it I put it straight on - WOW!!!

I don't normally enjoy recordings of live shows but this has been done extremely well - from beginning to end I was enthralled (the surround sound DVD player certainly helped).

This has been done so well you get the feeling that you're actually at the show - I nearly started applauding at the end!!

The extras are interesting as well (rather than the normal 'we'll chuck that in to fill up the DVD'.

If, like me, you lived through the release of the original record (one of those big black round things for those of you who've never come across one) then you must buy this.

I'm now even more determined to get tickets to see it live next time it tours (supposed to be in 2009)

the live show came to town this month and i couldnt get tickets so bought the dvd .the music didnt differ from the original album and was fab and the stage show and martian was fab i loved every minute of it and now i know next time it comes to town il get a ticket no matter what

One of my favourite albums and when I found out about the live version I wanted to buy it. This cd doesn't disappoint. good to see Justin Heyward back doing his vocals.I'm glad to see they found a way to keep Richard Burton in as nobody else could substitute. Excellent cd.

this is absolutely fantastic have never seen or heard anything so well performed in a long time this is one of the most remarkable musicals ever

fantastic sound quality 5.1 dd. it really moved me.went to see it live in brighton an awesome experience.the dvd brought it all back.

i seen the movie got the dvd, then got the cd and the studio version of the radio show, so seen this on tv, wanted to own this dvd so i can play it as many times as i like, an excellent show, well worth the money, a must for anyone who loves the war of the worlds

Beinng a kid of the 70's, i grew up with the original version of Jeff Waynes The war of the Worlds. Recently i saw the stage version and i think it's a fantastic rework of the original album. Filmed live on stage, with a large screen for a backdrop. this combines the action with the actors and singers using animation and pre filmed sequnses of the album. Enhancing the the musical to a spectacular visual experience. Filmed live at wembly this DVD is a two dvd set. one of the show, and one which explains the story, and introduces the stars and goes behind the scenes. So if you like Jeff Waynes musical version of The Wat of the Worlds, you will love this live on stage DVD. Excellent.

This is fantastic, amazing, brilliant, superb!!!!!!! My parents had the LP of this when I was a child & the music is so dramatic that I always loved it. Watching it on stage is just astounding, I hope to see it live the next time round.This dvd will not disappoint **********************************

Interesting attempt to record the War Of The Worlds preformed live at Wembley. The intro differs from the record, and I was pleased when Richard Burtons "No one would have believed " monologue started about 5 minutes later.
Two of the original singers appear, including Justin Hayward who`s Forever Autumn appears in full rather than the badly edited form that was put out as a single. The "Spirit Of Man" suffers badly without Phil Lynott who obviously couldnt appear, I`m sure that they could have found a better sound alike rather than going for a name singer in Russell Watson.
Special effects have obviously been enhanced for the DVD compared to what the concert goers saw. Recorded in 2006, I`m sure the 2009 preformances will have far more sophisticated effects.
My 10 year old sat with me and watched the concert to the end, and he has the attention span of a gnat, and hasnt heard the CD`s. We havent bothered with the second DVD of special features and interviews- basically because these are usually just self important people telling us how wonderful they are.
I`m sure that the basic nature of the visuals will be redressed when they release the DVD of the 2009 concerts, but this version will appear to a wider audience than those who are fans of the original recordings. Worth getting, but I wouldnt have paid over £10 for a copy.

Apart from being there at a live performance this ranks with the best
on DVD it was so enjoyable I will watch it again and again , an amazing
transformation from listening to watching

I purchased this dvd because I am disabled and can not get to a live show. I always start my searches with Ebay. There is usually a large selection to choose from. With varying prices and postal charges to ponder. I have always found ebay sellers to be Fair, Courteous and Reasonable and amazingly quick to send the item. Where there have been minor problems they are explained fully. Although at present I can not recall an example.
My copy was recorded at the Arena Birmingham with the original cast. It was just as though they were performing in my front room. I could feel the atmosphere along with the audiance I really felt part of it. I am very pleased with my purchase and thank Ebay for their part and the seller for having the exact copy that I was looking for.

Always loved the original album, then the cd but always wanted to see the show and was unable to due to commitments. This is the next best thing to actually being there. Quality sound and visual effects and great to see Jeff Wayne performing his bits live. Stills sounds great! Really good value for the money!
Would recommend it to everybody that loved the original album!

REALY GOOD FILM , AND A MUSICAL FEAST , FOR ANY LOVER OF A CLASSIC , EVEN TODAY THE MUSIC IS NOT DATED , AND CERTAINLY WAKES THE BODY AND SOUL

I bought it because I loved the films and the music of war of the worlds and thought I can`t see how they could make it a stage musical. I was spellbound. It is absolutely wonderful. If you watch this film it will leave you wanting to see more. It sticks to H G wells original storyline. If they can make the robots like it for the stage show why have we not yet had a better film of it.

If you liked the original CD then you'll just love this. Justin Heywood really does it justice, it's just a pity that they didn't have David Essex in it as per the original album.
