Sheer brilliance with an unquenchable thirst for northern humour.
Wallace and Gromit set out to quash "humanely" the ever increasing bunny population, which they manage to achieve with one of their many home made gadgets. Unfortunately though, due to a bit of a mix up a monster is created.
Try to look out for the backdrop jokes incorporated within the film e.g.: one of the magazines they read is called, "ey up" a good northern way of saying HELLO.
Good all round family entertainment !

Wallace And Gromit - The Curse Of The Were Rabbit (DVD)

Absolutely fantastic. I miss most of the jokes because I’m laughing too much. I come from Nottingham, born and bred, and the humour in the film is without comparison, the funniest being the action going on in the background. Every time I watch it, I find another stupid thing to laugh about. The ‘behind the scenes’ is a good ‘add on’, it depicts how the film is conceived, and the lengths that the production team go to get it right. Long Live Aardman.

Wallace & Gromit seem to have been around forever. They've been catapulted to fame from three wonderful, oscar-winning shorts and now here comes their movie. No pressure then... It certainly doesn't feel like it.
This is an effortless film, full of visual and word puns. The films are a celebration of all things English. Our two heroes are not only on a par with great animated characters, like Bugs and Daffy, but are two of the great comic characters in film, alongside Laurel & Hardy. We're very lucky to be around while Nick Park makes films. He is a cinema giant making films that will be watched many years from now.
That said, the pair, like the aforementioned Stan & Ollie, do work better in the short format. The film, while never stretched, demands a lot from our trusted pair... Mr. Wallace is often off screen as the plot requires so it's up to his trusted friend Gromit to rescue both him and the film. Has he let us down yet?
It's a wonderful film for adults and children. The best that can be said for it is that it deserves a place on your mantlepiece alongside the three other charming shorts.

Having saved up and gone without my cheese ration for a month I finally made my way to the cinema to watch this Epic film. My only concern being the number of kids at the afternoon matinee.Enter the cinema in the dark, spinechilling. I await the start of the film and the suspense is killing me. I've already eaten my ration of wensleydale, as the film begins.I never stopped laughing, brilliant does not do it credit, it was a real treat.Better even than watching Big Ears and Camila on Tv. The lights in the cinema came up and I looked around, not a kid in sight under 65.I've now seen the film 5 times. When is the next one Nick? I'll invest my cheese allowance.

Wallace And Gromit remain as lovable as ever!

Curse of the Were-Rabbit' has enough wacky inventiveness and pure silliness, including a greenhouse in the shape of a church, to entertain both children and adults.
It's among the most inventive animated movies ever made and who could resist a movie in which a garden gnome holds the front line in high-tech home security? :)

Well worth getting!

  A hilarious film

The Curse of the Were-Rabbit was Nick Parks second attempt at a big movie (Chicken Run being his first). But for this one, he returned to where he began, with Wallace and Gromit.
There were fears stretching out one of his mini films would make it slow, and boring. But rest assured, the jokes, and laughs come as regular as the others.
Excellent entertainment.

I honestly thought that the Wallace & Gromit people were pushing their luck in releasing another film...how wrong I was....read on

With just four days to go until Tottington’s Giant Vegetable Competition, all is well with the village’s vegetable crop, thanks to the watchful eye of Anti-Pesto, run by keen inventor Wallace and his loyal dog, Gromit. But when a mythical creature, known as the Were-Rabbit, starts terrorising the locals, the redoubtable duo find themselves in a fight unlike any they’ve faced before…

Empire Review
Three times, Nick Park, the genius behind Aardman Animation, has gone to the Oscars. Three times, he’s worn a different coloured bow tie. Three times, he’s left with the little gold fella — all for shorts featuring his inspired stop-motion creations, Wallace and Gromit. Well, their first big-screen outing has added about 50 minutes to the running time, but thankfully that’s all that’s changed — for this consistently hilarious slice of Britannia will surely win the Best Animated Feature award next year.

Of course, credit should also go to co-director Steve Box. For almost five years, the duo have locked themselves away to craft the1 first W&G tale since 1995’s A Close Shave. That’s a heck of a long time to keep gags fresh, but thanks to a beautifully modulated script, truly cinematic camerawork and editing, and astonishing animation, they’ve done it.

Were-Rabbit was funded by US behemoth DreamWorks Animation, yet it retains a charming homespun quality, fusing Ealing comedy tropes and Hammer horror conventions (don’t be scared — the Were-Rabbit is as cute as a bag of Jessica Albas) into a near dementedly British tone, augmented by a Pixar-level script that mixes killer sight gags, world-class punnery and ace one-liners.

However, the comedy is never indulged at the expense of the plot, which flies off in genuinely unexpected directions, culminating in a boundlessly inventive funfair chase sequence.

The supporting cast are clearly having fun but never overshadow the central pairing, Wallace enjoying a spot of romance, while Gromit gets all the cool action scenes. It’s a tribute to Aardman that Gromit, who doesn’t even have a mouth, conveys a cavalcade of emotion, from courage to suspicion to terror and, crucially, sadness, as Park uses those puppy dog eyes to elicit a few tears.

BRILLIANT!!!

To think this entire movie is done frame by frame by hand. The level of detail and craftsmanship are outstanding.

This movie deserves a place in everyone's DVD collection.

You can watch this again and again and still find it funny.

One for all the family...

Wallace & Gromit - The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit
Dir: Nick Park
Starring: Peter Sallis, Ralph Fiennes, Helena Bonham-Carter

The fear of the unknown has paralysed Hollywood in recent years. The money-makers and erstwhile risk-takers had grown too comfortable in their plushly upholstered leather chairs and wanted to stay in illicit, fat Cuban cigars and expensive mistresses for years to come. They couldn't risk another Waterworld, an expensive belly-flop of a film. So they started to play it safe. Producer after producer commissioned remakes and sequels and before we knew it, we were up to ears in God-awful TV movies and desperate superhero films. But we could always count on the good old English to come up with something original though, right?

Wrong. Here comes yet another blockbuster sequel. We are to believe that Nick Park couldn't bear to make another film without the bashful Wallace and silent Gromit, such was the strength of his bond to these dollops of plasticine. Never mind the fact that the Wrong Trousers took these characters as far as they could go. Stick with what you know and everything'll be alright.

And everything is alright. It's okay. The Curse of the Wererabbit is inoffensive and mellow and plods along nicely. It has a scattering of genuine laugh-out-loud gags but they are too few and far between to sustain any level of comedic rhythm. Wallace and Gromit are as likeable as ever but there is no spark of invention or pushing boundaries here. Park is definitely playing it safe.

And none of this would matter if the kids left happy. Unfortunately, they were bored and totally nonplussed by the experience. There were no howls of laughter and no excited chatter, just glum faces all round. And for a movie that's supposedly for kids that's the most damning fact of all.

The first full-length feature film with Wallace & Gromit and it loses none of its originality or charm. Great humour from start to finish and a brilliant and unique storyline. It will appeal to everyone of all ages. The DVD has some extras and most will enjoy watching how the film was made. On the special edition 2 disk version there are all the Cracking Contraptions shorts featuring Wallace and Gromit which are again brilliant. Excellent - and we have watched again and again!

I love the subtle comedy, its good clean fun for all the family. I bought this film because I have watched all the smaller Wallace and Gromit films and they have all been wicked. I can't imagine anyone not liking anything about them or this one. They have come up with yet another cunning, brilliantly made film.

i bought this dvd as i love wallace and gromit and we hadn't went to see it at the cinema on its release. we had heard the film was really good and when it won numerous awards we borrowed it so we could see it. we loved it so much that we wanted a copy of our own to watch it again. i looked around shops at 1st, but found the best prices where here on ebay. i went for this particular auction as it was the double edition at a good price. we are very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone.

I bought this dvd for some light viewing for a change.... also knowing how funny wallace & gromit can be from previous. Good family film which i would recommend.
Gromit is the star of this film for us although wallace did make us feel hungry for a piece of cheese. The expressions on the characters faces are excellent and gromit is such a clever dog.... he seems to be good at everything.
