Wall-E (DVD)

The opening shot is of downtown New York City. Only these aren't normal buildings but towers of blocks of trash. WALL-E (voiced by beeps and Ben Burtt), our hero, is a glorified trash compactor who has made the mountains. As we follow him across the vast landscape, we learn that he is the last of his kind and that he is indeed on earth. Humans fled years ago because they bought into the commercialism of the Buy-n-Large stores that ruled the earth. The resulting garbage overran the planet.

But WALL-E is not a mindless robot. He is curious and collects bits and pieces of things that are still intact. At night, he takes these to his bunker where they are on display a la Ariel. His only companions are a cockroach and a video tape of Hello Dolly.

Into this world comes Eve (voiced by beeps and Elissa Knight). Eve is another robot but much more high tech. She is on a classified mission. WALL-E immediately falls for her. So much so, in fact, that when the spaceship returns to collect Eve, WALL-E tags along. Suddenly, the two find themselves caught up in an adventure with the future of mankind at stake. Can they save humanity?

This isn't quite Pixar's best, but it is very good. I mean, we've got robots who hardly speak as our main characters, yet we are completely rooting for them. And even though the dialogue is limited, these robots have personality. But it was the limited dialogue that got to me. I got tire of long stretches where the only words we heard were Wall-E and EVE calling each others' names, especially during the climax.

There are few characters here. Frankly, that makes sense due to the extra effort it takes to develop character and story without dialogue. And the story was a tad slow in spots, but it usually picked up about the time I was ready to move on.

There are some many cute and funny moments in the film. While most of these will appeal to the whole family, even those that kids wouldn't get are appropriate for all ages.

The animation is spectacular throughout, but this is especially true once we leave earth. There are some space shots that took my breath away.

There are several morals lurking just below the surface of the film. And you know what I appreciated abut them? They lurked just below the surface. Oh, they're hard to miss, but the story never stopped to lecture us.

While slow at times, I had a smile on my face by the time the film was over. And really, that's what it is all about.

Saw this movie advertised around Christmas and decided to get it for the kids. We all really enjoyed it, very funny and touching in equal parts, it also carries a strong environmental message played through an involving story.

You get to really care about the little robot as he tries to do the right thing for the planet.

Thoroughly recommended family viewing.

Thought this may be a film just for kids,but pleasantly surprised by the story line and graphics.
Taken on face value a good film ,which I suspect would have been better viewed at cinema on large screen.That said a good green story line ,which reminded me alittle of a Wallace and Gromit's a Grand Days out Adventure ,as Wall-e appeared to be modelled on the character in that film.
Still my youngest daughter seemed to like both.

I've got one word for this work of digital art by PIXAR.....wow!
The FX are like........wow!
graphics.......like wow!
The characters like....... wow!
The attention to detail like.......wow!
The extras like wow!
disc 2 and 3 like wow!
My kids are 4 and 2.5, and they are loving it!
They made me play it 7 times on the first day!

sorry this is not a film that i would hold my breath to see. watching the people been rolled around on wheelie beds was embarrassing,makes you feel sorry for the future. This should have been a funny cartoon instead it tried to send a message across. I watched my two grand kids watch it one 12 the other 8. Neither gave a smile or a giggle. Asked them after it had finish what they thought of it. The answer "it was alright". Sorry this totally lost it self

How can what is basically a cartoon express such emotions??!!
A great film, a character you can get attached to, a story with a 'green' message as well as the future onset of obesity for the human race!
Sounds great, no? What do you mean NO! It IS great and worth watching at least twice. And that's for us adults! Watch it...you'll see what I mean AND be a fan!

Watching it now, very moving film (y) All Pixar films are great though, if you have a HD TV I highly reccomend getting blu ray version!

This is a great story not just for kids but adults too, its a good laugh.
If you like Finding Nemo then you will enjoy this as its made by the same director.

I did see the film at the cimema though.. It was one of the best!!

i paid for this item stright away didnt recive it then after i sent several messages had a reply saying sorry he didnt have the item any more and he would refund but still no refund 2 months down the line and i have still been sending messages and there has been no response would never use him again and he should be taken off ebay really not happy this was going to be a pressent for my daughters birthday. (wall-e dvd)

excellent film for kids thourally enjoyed it, the blu ray quality is out of this world!!!! well worth buying. top film

I was pretty surprised how much I enjoyed this film. I'd say this is one of Disney's classic films. The detail is amazing on Blu-ray, but the film would still be just as enjoyable on normal DVD.

What can I say, at the time of writing the seller has received 13 negative feedback in a row.

A fantastic film for the whole family, it kept our little boy quiet for some time!!!a the big kids loved it too!!

This is a really cute film, but oh my god - does it take the **** out of Americans. It is really worth seeing though, it's funny and romantic.

There are many cute and funny times in the film and is suitable for all the family. The two main characters, Wall E and Eva are robots and are both on separate missions which lead to a joint adventure.

The animation is spectacular throughout, but this is especially true once the film goes to the outerspace scenes. The characters, including the people have been well thought out. My children loved the film and I fell in love with Wall E.

The story line that is told, is of the Earth and set in the future time. Is this how it's going to be? On the whole, an excellent film and well worth watching.

I got this dvd for my daughter for xmas. With in 30 mins my eight year old was bored my 4 year old was out of the room and i was climbing the wall with sheer frustration WALLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. interesting story line great animation dull film. 3 out of ten. Good quality film suitable for all the family. We enjoyed it even though our childhood was over a long time ago.

I didn't like this in fact! the first time I watched it I fell asleep half way though and had to watch it again, but this time with my 7 year old grandson, he liked it but didn't rave about it like many other films he has seen so I can only score it average.
