Good first camera for a youngster.

My four and half year old daughter began taking an interest in photography, “borrowing” my Fuji Finepix camera (Yes it made me nervous watching her walking round with it and clicking at random). We thought about buying her one of these “specially for kids” cameras, but the reviews were poor in terms of photo quality. So we came to Ebay. We managed to get this excellent condition camera for less than £15 delivered. She took to it very easily. We use rechargeable batteries which give good battery life. Takes reasonable quality pictures. It is very much a point and press camera. Bad points – no lens cover – so there is risk of it getting scratched. It has a fairly flimsy feel. The zoom is selected and operated (as are many other functions) via a sort of rocker button switch thing. It probably has a technical name. You press it in the middle, and then press the top part of the button to zoom in (up to four times) and the bottom part to zoom out. It is easy to accidentally depress the button in the middle which cancels the zoom. We have got used to this though. The lens can be rotated for landscape (distance) mode and portrait (close up) mode. For some reason (not sure why – maybe I need to read the manual) if you turn it to the portrait mode (symbol of person rather than mountains) the flash will not come on. These means people are dark in doors – so we leave it set to the mountain position. Having said that, the screen is a decent enough size to review shots taken, and the SD card we bought (off Ebay) to go with it means my daughter can snap away – which she does. I agree with other reviewers. This is a great “first” camera for a youngster.
