A gardening delight

I bought this DVD as a birthday present for my partner who had recently been given the opportunity to develop a vegetable plot within a neglected walled garden.
The Victorian Kitchen Garden DVD starts with an introduction and then you can view individual months of the year. It includes a flavour of the history and practical skills of the victorian gardeners and is a fascinating insight into their world. Harry Dodson has been a gardener all his life, and each month takes the viewer through the work that would have been done by the Victorian gardners at that time. This includes growing and propagating an amazing aray of fruit and vegetables, which many of us today would bulk at trying to achieve. The restoration of the walled garden into a productive and beautiful space is wonderful.
We have very much enjoyed watching this, and limit ourselves to a couple of months in an evening in order to make it last! We have found it an inspiring subject and would very much recommend it to anyone who has an interest in gardening, and the skills and inventiveness of the Victorian gardeners.
The theme tune is pretty good as well. It's a shame that these types of programmes are never considered for re-showing on TV. Now I'm trying to find the War Time Kitchen Garden! Enjoy!
