ViaMichelin X-950 Car GPS Receiver

Easy to use, extremely quick to react to small movement and as informative as you could wish for. Even though I research my route and destination thoroughly beforehand this acts as a failsafe backup for alternative routes when diversions are imminent.

The Sat Nav is small and the receiver senstitive. I bought two on ebay a 950T for me at £93 and a 950 for my wife at £62 (both including delivery). The 950 has V6 software and the 950T has V5. V6 has much better postcode search, up to 7 digits. V5 only allows 5 digits. Overall V6 is much better than V5, as far as I can tell it is not possible to upgrade. Viamichelen seems to have updated to V6 sometime in 2007.The new 960 seems to use V7 software. With the two of them side by side they give alternative routes for getting from my house to the M40, neither of which I would use. Also both of them give odd directions at times. The 950T sent me over an underpass and around the surface roundabout when I wanted to go straight under and ahead along the A40. The traffic guidance system of the 950T only works in some areas and the information, like all traffic warnings can be out of date or it just tells you what is obvious i.e that it is busy. I previously used Tom Tom running on an iPaq, which i think is overall much better software in terms of speed and facilities, but I had trouble with my iPaq crashing. So far no crashes on the Viamichelin

cheap and slimer than the normal satnavs...i'm experiances problem with it though because it keeps on crashing.....

This machine was advertised, however trhere seems to be an issue with the connection sometimes it is as it doesnt connect inside the machine, but never mind l put up with it and it was a good buy.

Amazing bit of kit, one of the best sat navs I have used. Does exactly what it says on the tin and has some great places of interest such as car parks and restraunts which I did'nt have on my old tom tom.

I borrowed one of these from a friens on a long journey to weymouth, it helped me so much I am now looking to buy one of my own. It simply does what it says and is easy to follow.

Excellent product until you need European maps for it, then it will cost you more than the unit itself... I bought another Sat Nav which had European maps already, this worked out much, much cheaper.

when you get past the freezing at awkward times,its a great thing , puts you on the mark postcode wise,and centreing on the street and junction.even,so far anyway,on industrial estates,,,,........cor blimey,.thought it was pants to start with,but its great.

A system which, had the volume of the unit been 30% higher, would have won it the highest accolade.

It is a solidly built, well designed unit which does exactly as it says on the tin. I'm presently using the latest version 6 software which I have downloaded (Free) and installed effortlessly from the ViaMichelin website along with the latest Speed Camera data.

The fact that the Speed (Safety) Camera locations are updated monthly is good news. The fact that they are completely FREE is excellent news. That means a great saving on other manufacturer's "hidden" costs of updating this information.

The SiRF Star III chipset means very quick satellite acquisition is the norm, and, as a bonus, the unit works behind a heated windscreen from its internal aerial.

An excellent windscreen mount, easy to detach unit with a good quality case, allied to excellent performance, not to mention the included Michelin Green and Red guides, gives this SatNav a big Thumbs Up from me.
