A Very Long Engagement (DVD)

Five desperate men shoot themselves in order to be relieved from the horrifying frontline at the Somme, in WWI. A court-martial decides to punish them by leaving them alone in no-man's land, to be killed in the crossfire. Then all hell breaks loose and they all die. Or not? One of these men's fiancée, a young girl who can't walk since age 3, receives information that makes her suspect his boyfriend might have gotten away alive. So she embarks in a painful, long and often frustrating ordeal to find out the truth

A Wonderful film about love during the 1st World War,set in France ,it tells the story of five condemed men. Its' visual composition stuns the senses as it tells the story, in the aftermath of the war, of one of the condemed men as his fiencee tries to find him.

I bought this DVD because of who made it and who starred in it.
It is "Amelie" with a more seroius tone, although its by no means all serious.
As long as you can cope with the subtitles its well worth it.

the film is a genius's work - with all the best people, people from Amelie and the dude from hannibal rising its a fantastic story of love and all its complications, with great detail about world war I and the cinematography is amazing!

This is yet another french romantic movie - created by Jean Pierre Jeunet - the very same person who created Amelie. Audrey Tatou plays a cripple whom fiancee has been lost at war - she believes that he isn't dead, but all his batallion has been decimated at war. Will she ever find him?

Well you will know only if you watch it, very entertaining in a romatic way, I would say it is an ideal present for a lady friend, the original title is 'Un long dimanche de fiancailles', it might be cheaper to obtain on eBay France.

Now go and buy it!
