If you like reggae at all then you must get this album.
In case you don't know, Studio One was a record label set up by Clement 'Coxsone' Dodd in Jamaica and was responsible for releases of the early styles of reggae (ska and rocksteady) through to the classic reggae of the 70's.
All the styles are on this CD including instrumentals and DJ tracks as well as some of the sweetest voices (the legendary Alton Ellis, for a start) and greatest musicians (Jackie Mittoo and many more) in the history of reggae.
This compilation has been put together by the Soul Jazz label and is an excellent sampler of the Studio One sound. There are a number of CD's they've released concentrating on the various types of Studio One release. They are all wonderful but this CD is the daddy!
I cannot praise this CD too highly.
