Cullum's wide palette is reflected on the compilation IN THE MIND OF JAMIE CULLUM, the pianist/singer's installment of a mix series that allows artists to select and assemble tracks that reflect their aesthetic.Not surprisingly, old-school jazz is well represented; the set sports cuts from Herbie Hancock and Charles Mingus. Tunes by Nina Simone and Luiz Bonfa also appear, along with unexpected inclusions like Roni Size's head-bobbing "Brown Paper Bag" and Elbow's "Station Approach." The result is an intriguing peek into Cullum's far-reaching influences.
