Album Notes
Recorded at The Office and Studio 14731, Van Nuys, California. This recording sets the bar for all tribute albums to follow. Assembling a virtual "Who's Who" of hair-band legends, hard-rock vets and shredders, STEW is just about the best tribute to Alice one could imagine. The Godfather of shock rock should be pleased. Members of Def Leppard, Megadeth, Dio, Motley Crue and Iron Maiden each flawlessly perform a Cooper track. "Welcome To My Nightmare" combines the ever-improving vocals of Ronnie James Dio and the guitar talents of Steve Lukather. The Crue bring a sleazy street vibe to "Cold Ethyl," while Zakk Wylde and Cooper disciple Dee Snider rock out on "Go To Hell." Roger Daltrey lends his unmistakable pipes to "No More Mr. Nice Guy," which also features Slash. Produced by Bob Kulick, STEW primarily works because the musicians are all in the same vein as Alice. There is no eclectic mix of underground musicians, just rock & roll animals who have been influenced by one of Detroit's finest.
