Clubland 8 review: by jamieday83

CD 1 bangs straight in with the anthemic Herd and Fitz track ‘I Just Can’t Get Enough’. The fantastic Freemasons have worked their magic and as Abigail Bailey gladly tells us, we are indeed “toxicated and exhilarated”!

The beats just keep coming with the ever so sexy Mylo and his take on ‘Doctor Pressure’. Then, coming in at number three, there’s a great mix of The Pussy Cat Dolls’ ‘Don’t Cha’ which rocks with its trance beats behind the vocal talents of the sexiest six in showbiz.
Other tracks to look out for are ‘Insomnia’, by Faithless, which has Big Ben chiming in the middle of the groove, and Flip & Fill’s twist to the over familiar Rachel Stephens hit ‘I Said Never Again (But Here We Are)’. Disc 1 finishes with Inaya Day raising her nasty head and, as usual, we’re not disappointed.

The fabulous Danni Minogue opens the second CD and it really is perfection. There is nothing on this CD that regular listeners to Gaydar Radio would not be familiar with. It’s a right romp through this year’s hits ending with the razzmatazzy, jazzy, funky, fun, uplifting track ‘Do Your Thing’ from Basement Jaxx. Handbags out and arms in the air!

The third and final CD is not called CD3 but LIVE. Mixed by DJ Insy it’s a hybrid sound of electro-trance that can be heard in the clubs across Europe. It finishes with Special D sampling Nina’s ‘99 Red Balloons’ – you remember, she was the German girl in the 80s who shocked a nation when, on Top of the Pops, she exposed us all to her hirsute armpits that would have put Guy the Gorilla to shame. But I digress….

Clubland 8 is great fun and has all the big tunes of the year on it. It has a distinct Euro sound throughout which is great to stick on the CD on a Saturday Night whilst getting ready to go out. Marvellous.
