Video: The Unit, like most Fox releases of new shows, looks great on DVD. The series is shown on CBS in HD, and we get a nice Anamorphic Widescreen (1.78:1) transfer for these DVDs. There's a bit of noise in some scenes, but this seems to be done by the production staff to give the show a certain style. I noticed some odd interlacing issues in episodes 2, 3, 4 and 5, usually occurring part-way through there episode. There's a chapter placed after the opening of the episodes and there's a "play all" option on each disc.
Audio: You'll only find one track on this release, but it's a good one; English Dolby Digital 5.1. I've found action and sci-fi shows make best use of 5.1 tracks, and The Unit does a good job of taking advantage of the format. There are some nice directional effects, and the rear speakers are used for some subtle sound effects and music. The bass sounds good as well; it helps put a bit of punch into explosions. There are subtitles in English, Spanish and French, and the episodes are closed captioned.

Paradise Lost: The Making of the Season 2 Finale (32:46)
I think this is a first for a featurette - they interview accountants! This featurette examines the making of the final episode, and includes interviews with nearly everyone connected to the episode, from the accountant, to the writers, producers, editors, make-up artists, hair stylists....I think they have everyone covered!
Mission: The Making of Sub-Conscious (11:44)
Shooting an episode in a submarine poses some problems for the production crew. See what the had to contend with, and how they solved it, in this featurette.
Dark of the Moon: Working with Weapons (20:08)
Want to know a bit about the weapons in The Unit? Check out this featurette.
Summary: This is a good DVD set, and one worth adding to a collection.
