great welsh film about two brothers who are on the road for revenge, against bent coppers and strong arm business men. totally ott but so very very funny with it. drugs cars and funny lines.good cameo role by kieth allen aka lilly dads ?. trainspotting gone welsh ,didnt do great in the cinema but still worth a watch,
This film is very funny, especially if your sense of humour is a little on the dark side! Bent policemen, drugs, prostitution, fast cars, a stolen poodle and a male welsh choir-this film really has a bit of everything!
We first saw the film years ago, we saw a bargain here on ebay so we snapped it up.
I'd forgotten how brilliant this film is. Funny, sad, black and always guttsy. A strange mix of extremes which remain believable and real. I've bought it to watch with a friend who's never even heard of it - can't wait to see his reaction!
This is an awesome film, billed as a welsh trainspotting this film is a forgotten classic. With an english dog that everyone speaks welsh to, twins that make bongs out of EVERYTHING and the beautifully scummy backdrop of Swansea this is a must see.
best film ever what more can i say???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
all i can say is if you aint got this film get it. its a few years old but still one of my favorite films it will have you in stiches. so buy it and if all else fails come to wales
This film is now 10 years old, however the storyline and humour is very relevant to todays culture. The story is set in a welsh town and is centred around two 'chavs' who are brothers, they do have names but throughout the film are known collectively as 'the twins'. The ultimate lovable rogues.
With nothing better to do, they spend there days smoking pot and joyriding and from the outset are completely out of control, going as far as to stealing there probation officers car! Although a very gritty storyline, with a swear word in almost every sentnce and manys references to sex inc some scenes, it also has a softer side.
As the viewer learns more about the twins, you realise deep down they are completely devoted to one another and to there family and really simply have a very warped idea of right and wrong, they are not out to deliberately cause harm. They just want 'justice'. Quite a tight knit cast which start off as quite seperate story lines but as in all good plots, without giving too much away, there paths are destined to cross.....
Hilarious film which has to be watched two or three times to appreciate all the jokes and unspoken humourous touches (for instance the variety of vehicles the twins manage to steal).
A very candid portrayal of the darker side of an on the surface quite average town!
Also a fantastic and strangely touching ending which really leave the viewer wondering who really the bad guy.
Down to earth drama with a comedy twist at the end. I could watch this film time and time again as there always seems to be something I miss. Watch out for guest appearances from the directors mother and her friends(outside the railway station) and his brother (Keith Allen). Well worth watching, particularly if you've been to or are from Swansea
I bought this DVD because I only had it on video and I no longer have a video player. This film, full of laughs and black humour, did for Wales and the City of Swansea what Trainspotting did for Scotland and Edinburgh. The story is basically about 2 welsh brothers (Lewis twins) from a working class backround who get on the wrong side of a wealthy buisiness man (Bryn Cartwright). The twins and Cartwright proceed in a Cat and Mouse game of tit for tat which inevitably gets out of control. Also to keep the viewer amused the story includes 2 corrupt cops, hookers, dodgy builders and a traditional Welsh Male Voice Choir. The film contains strong language throughout, scenes of a sexual nature, nudity and drug taking hence the 18 certificate. If you're welsh or better still (like me) a Swansea resident, then you can totally relate to this film, if not you will still find it a good laugh. Twin Town gives the viewer a small insight into the Welsh way of life.
It is currently my most favourite movie. Its funny and i would recommend it to everyone. Twin Town is a film based in Swansea, Wales and involves drugs and violence along with laughter. It was recommended to me actually from a kid i know from Swansea, its all he could talk about when it came to movies and now its all i can talk about. I bought this dvd real cheap and its worth every penny. There are way too many scenes to describe so i recommend to everyone to watch it.
I was poked in the eye once, let me tell you about it.
Whilst walking back from my Cat Baiting society i was jumped by a gang of youths outside the Crown and Scepter in North Oldsfield. I was stabbed four times and thrown down two flights of stairs, breaking both my arms in the process. As i lay there dying i looked up at the sky above and saw one of the youths draw close. With a cruel grin on his face, he jabbed me playfully in the eye with the sharp end of a rusty screw-driver. "Hell's where you're going...," he scowled. "You'll burn there for all eternity - for ever and ever, cause you're sad." "Sad?" I said desperately. "You think i'm sad?" "No, i think you're scared," the mugger smirked. "Scared of going to hell." "Hell?" I laughed, glaring at the youth through my one good eye. "I'm not scared of hell young man, not hell or anything like it." "Oh yeah?" The mugger scoffed nervously. "Prove it!" "Very well...," I said struggling to reach into my pocket. "Here, take this." And with that I dropped what i was holding into his hand - a ticket stub for the movie 'Twin Town.' I had been to hell. I had been to hell for two and a half hours and regretted every minute of it. Especially Rhys Ifans.
Based on Swansea which is our closest city to where we live...takes normal life type situations and adapts them. Also uses local people for some of the cast etc. Almost a surreal type situation displayed withing hte film and storyline.
its a great film- but then it would be!! haha!! Rhys ifans is a god and if you love him as much as me this film is a must see film!!! it is of course set in the city that is Swansea. If you've never been here, your not missing very much!!!i bought it for my brother for christmas as it is one of his favorite films and i broke his last copy of it in a strop!!! oooppsss!!! haha!!! The seller was awsome 2 and it got here in perfect condition!!! Thankyou!!!
This is a must for all with a sense of humour, must admit it does help if your welsh. Love the story line about two " twins " from a caravan site in wales, who seak revenge for the death of there family while getting trashed on the way. Is there anything that these boys wouldnt use as a bong! Got it on vhs but had to buy the dvd to replay the best bits over again.
