A big bad hamburger of a film....Ace!
Review created: 08/06/07(updated 18/07/07)

In a charming opening sequence, Clarence (Christian Slater), a Rockabilly Elvis fan, finds true love with a gorgeous blond in a leopard skin coat called Alabama Whirly (Patricia Arquette) who deliberately showers him with popcorn as he sits alone watching Kung Foo movies in a half empty cinema.Their instant love affair leads to instant marriage and continues throughout the remainder of the film. So rest assured this is a very delightful romantic love story. All Clarence and Alabama want out of life is to settle down and have a nice family.
The dead Elvis, convinces Clarence to take revenge on Drexel, an ugly one eyed, 14ct gold slimeball drug dealer, for being real nasty to his wife before they met.
With one million dollars worth of 'cola', courtesy of the wasted Drexel, and with a little help from thier actor friend and his sleazy contacts in the film business, they set out to achieve thier goal of living happily ever after, but not without encountering some serious difficulties on the way.
With an excellent script by Tarantino, a well integrated musical score, some seamless editing, and the lovely Rubanesque body line of the heroine, with facial features and skin tones to match, who gives an appealing performance as a streetwise angel, handy with a pump action shotgun as she is with a tub of popcorn, all makes for pure entertainment.
Throw in some fine cameo performances, by Christopher Walkin the 'Anti Christ' Sicilian drug baron,Don Vincenzo, and Dennis Hopper who dared to call him an eggplant (you have to watch the film to find out why), hippy coke head and couch potato Brad Pit, who is into cleaning fluid in a big way, and you have a genuinely fine Teen gangster film......that is, until it all falls apart in the final scene, when 'True Romance' turns from an exciting drama about two young lovers, into a nonsensical white-feathered farce.
