Album Notes Tres Chicas: Lynn Blakey (acoustic guitar); Tonya Lamm (electric guitar); Caitlin Cary (violin); Geraint Watkins (piano, organ); Matt Radford (bass instrument); Robert Trehern (drums). The women of Tres Chicas have alt country backgrounds that include Whiskeytown and Hazeldine. Recorded in the U.K. with musicians like former Van Morrison sidemen Geraint Watkins and Robert Trehern, their sophomore album is a sophisticated, low-key affair, with the gorgeous harmonies you'd expect from singers of their pedigree. The folk-rock "Drop Me Down" has echoes of the Band, and "Stone Love Song" has a smooth, jazzy feel, while the pretty harmonies of the folky "Red" belie its forlorn lyrics, and the sexy "If You Think That's All right," one of the album's only uptempo tracks, wraps its Bakersfield rhythm with vibraphone in an attractive and unusual-sounding package.
Editorial Reviews 3 stars out of 5 -- [The album] sees Appalachia and interwoven harmonies given a European flavour by Nick Lowe and producers Neil brickbat and Robert Trehern. Uncut
