delightful little film, an homage to all its b-movie predecessors. The duo of Fred Ward (Earl) and Kevin Bacon (Val)are some of the most likeable characters to have appeared on screen, starting out as Dumb and Dumber, but going on to save the day in true hero style.

The regulation plot: A few monsters have appeared near Perfection, your standard remote, cut-off town in hicksville. They are huge, so what have they been living off so far? Why have they never before been seen? How did they get there? As the film points out, dunno. That kind of stuff never gets explained in this sort of movie. It's up to our intrepid heroes, aided and abetted by the motley crew of local residents (with the usual guessing game of who will get eaten by the end of the film - place your bets ladies and gentlemen), to save the day - whilst allowing time to fall in love, of course.

I disagree with the reviewer who called the acting awful - it's perfect, in particular by the the central trio - FW, KB and the female lead, Finn Carter. Even in the ridiculous circumstances, you care what happens to them. OK, so some of our local residents are larger than life, but that's not the acting, that's b-movie.

The hilariously appalling SFX add to all the fun, as does the wonderful victory cry by Kevin Bacon "Can you fly you ****er, can you fly?".

A treasure and a treat. Put aside your intellect, take out your popcorn and enjoy.

  A cult classic.

This great cult classic spawned two sequels, a prequel and a TV series, thats how good it is. It centres around Val and Earl (Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward), two handymen in the town of Perfection, Nevada, who get bored of their lives and want to leave. Unfortunately, some huge underground monsters have other ideas and the pair are trapped with the other residents of the tiny town and must fight the monsters for their lives. Its actually very funny all the way through and the two main characters are good together, but the excellent Micheal Gross steals the show as the Gun loving survivalist Burt Gummer, who starred in all the other films and series (the only one who did them all). The special effects arnt great, but thats what makes this film so great, a must see for all, the same about the follow-ups.

  "Throw the bomb!"

Every so often a gem of a movie comes along that takes everyone by surprise. Tremors is one of those movies. Taking its cue from the old black and white 'B' movies, it tells the story of two handymen, Val and Earl, (Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward) who decide to give up their go-nowhere lifestyle on the very day that monsters move into the area and threaten the peaceful existence of Perfection, Nevada.

The movie barrels along at a cracking pace, setting up the plot with a series of strange occurances. When the creatures finally make their appearance, it's with the realization that they're not state of the art creations like, say, Ridley Scott's Alien, but they're still pretty scary in their own right, managing to excite and disgust in equal measure without going over the top.

So, thwarted in their attempts to leave town, Val and Earl are enlisted as reluctant heroes, battling to save the inhabitants of Perfection from becoming a hot lunch. Aided and abetted by the spunky and likeable Finn Carter as a seismology student caught up in the action, and the excellent Michael Gross as the gun toting Burt Gummer, who manages to steal just about every scene he appears in, the pair quip their way from scene to scene in this lively and underrated horror spoof!

Things to watch out for? Check out the Graboid assault on Burt's fortified home! The doctor and his wife's demise! And the final 'explosive' scene is comedy-horror as its best!

While not enjoying the budget of some of the bigger films of its day, Tremors manages to hit all the right notes in so many ways. Watch it! You won't be disappointed! There are certainly worse ways to spend 92 minutes!

This frighteningly funny film was a great entry into the scary movie genre. Probably intended as a 'B' movie but like so many others has become a 'cult status' film. The sequel was JUST silly. Not quite the follow up it could hav been. Well worth a glass of wine or two on a Friday evening!

Tremors is a modern classic, it's one of those films that just hits you into a stupor but at the end of the movie I guarantee that like me you will not feel cheated. Over the years I've watched this movie around 5 times on tv and now with my own dvd I can watch anytime I like on my portable player

  A beer and pizza movie!

I stumbled onto Tremors while flicking through the channels one night. Having found it I watched it through and loved it. It took me about 3 weeks to find out what it was called (This was before I had an Internet connection).
About a year later I got a vhs copy and the movie went onto my friday night beer and pizza list. (The Andromeda Strain, Them, The Thing - 1950s version) Now I've got the DVD it joins the other on the shelf nearest the TV.
Although the original suspense has gone, what there was of it. I still find the movie entertaining. The creature effects are box standard and the performances are OTT but it does have the advantage of all the action happening in broad daylight, not a Mulder and Scully Mag-Lite in sight.
As the other reviewers have said this isn't "Alien" but neither is it a turkey like "Bugs" On the whole its a genial horror romp that passes a couple of hours nicely.

First saw this film in the early 1990's. Absolutely fell in love with it. The humour between the characters (especially Kevin Bacon & Fred Ward's characters) are fantastic and even 15 years on, it still makes me laugh. I recently introduced it to my children and its now one of their favourite films too!!
