Toshiba XD-E500 DVD Player

With a massive number of DVDs and no money to convert them all to Blu-Ray, I needed something to take advantage of my 1080p TV.
Enter the XDE500. This box looks a little aged with it's display, reminding me of VCRs of old. However when you're watching a DVD you don't spend your time looking at the player! The quality of DVDs played through this player is simply excellent. It upscales to near BR quality, although it will never be as good as a genuine 1080p source so don't expect too much.
It will happily play DivX movies too, plus a search on the net will quickly reveal how to make ir region free!

Connected this to Panasonic 1080p TV. Picture quality is excellent, especially when playing animated features. Whilst it is not Blue Ray quality it certainly improved playback on my older Asda own brand DVD player
The unit as many reviews states does whistle when on standby.
Would recommend as a way to get the most from your DVD collection without investing in a new Blue Ray player and Bue Ray films
Supplier communication was excellent throughout, received within 3 days of sale end and was exactly as described. In fact although I was warned about cosmetic damage I have failed to find any.

This DVD player offers an affordable HD experience, without the HD! Images are crisp, even when shifting up to 1080i. Certainly good enough to delay moving on up to blue ray. Great features, slightly basic looking remote, but all in all a very capable player! Well done Toshiba!

great dvd player. no frills just an amazing picture. if you have a large dvd collection and dont want to change everything to blue ray then this is the machine to save your collection. one gripe. dont like the toshiba logo that glows bright white. very distracting. got a region free code from interweb and now it plays region 1 dvds. overall if you want a better pic from dvds then this is the machine to do it. you really cant go wrong for £41.
