I HAVE GOT THIS AND THE WHOLE SERIES IS BRILLIANT AND SO IS SERIES 2- I LOVE SI- FI SO JUST HAD TO BUY THE TORCHWOOD ONES, AS I NEVER MISS AN EPISODE- EXSPECIALLY WITH THE GORGEOUS JOHN BARROWMAN IN-THATS WHY I STARTED WATCHING THESE-(DONT WE ALL) NO BUT REALLY THE ACTING IS SUPERB! SHAME WE DONT HAVE OWEN IN THE FUTRE EPISODES THOUGH - HE WAS THE 2ND BEST ACTOR AFTER JOHN OF COURSE! BUT IF YOU ARE A JOHN BARROWMAN FAN LIKE ME YOU JUST HAVE TO BUY THESE- BUT IF YOUR NOT(AND I DONT THINK MANY OF US ARE NOT FANS OF HIM) BUY IT ANYWAY AS ITS GREAT STORIES LINES AND REALLY GOOD ACTING AND ONE OF THE BEST TO BE BROUGHT ON TO OUR SCREENS- TAKE MY WORD FOR IT!

I love this box set it's really clearly set out in the box. Each disk is listed with the episodes and looks really smart. Really great DVD especailly if you like Torchwood series on BBC2 really worth the money.

Torchwood was always going to be a chance for the BBC, Doctor Who has been of monumental success and this was to continue this success....Torchwood is a show in its own right, there are no flashbacks to Doctor Who apart from Jack re-iterating he has to find the right doctor which is understandable. Jack Harkness, a time agent leads 21st century Torchwood, and runs it in dedication to the Doctor. This commences after the battle of Canary Wharf which destroyed Torchwood 1 and brings in new addition Gwen Cooper and introduces several new themes and characters along the lines, we have Weevils, Cyberwoman, an alien that lives off the orgasmic energy of sex and the monster that is Abadon. Every minute of Series 1 is a rollercoaster event, from the opening, Everything Changes to the chilling Countrycide to the final battle in End of Days. It truly is a show that you will love to watch and never put down.

The series breaks new ground and adds an adult theme to the already excellent dr who series. Full of additional deleted scenes and other extras this is a great bundle. Can't wait to get series 2 box set.

My daughter is absolutely rivetted by the series. Can't wait for series 2. I have yet to watch every episode, but the ones I have watched I found very entertaining. The characters 'bounce' off each other very well! The chemistry between the people is well played, and the 'presence' can be felt of their various emotions. The series does not rely on amazing special effects to carry it, and has an adequately viable dialogue. This is a series for thinkers, not for visual gory effects lovers.

Doctor who spin off series for adults focusing on the much loved mysterious and feisty character Captain Jack Harkness and his team of alien investigators.
Brilliant series with lots of references to Doctor Who.Written by the same team as Doctor Who with Russell T Davies taking the lead. I would recommend this to all adult Doctor Who fans as Torchwood is just as addictive if not more so. Exciting storylines, indepth analysis of each character and the sacrifices each person has made in their own personal lives to work for this powerful and mysterious company. Sets are impressive and special effects are amazing. Each DVD has a set of special features which includes out-takes and gives you a little more detail about the Torchwood organisation. There is a bonus DVD which contains all episodes of Torchwood Declassified which again is more behind the scenes information.
Sexy,Dark, Whitty - I give Torchwood a big thumbs up.

Friends kept telling me. It can't be that good I thought. Well it's better. I'm hooked and now bidding on series 2 with great anticipation. The characters are all well rounded and the developement of said characters through the episodes is excellent, the angle of people being not all good or all bad is refreshing within this genre. The storylines are addictive, told with both humour and pathos. Grittier that the Doc and in my opinion just as enjoyable. The more adult content is refreshingly realistic. Captain Jack...ROCKS!!!!

I loved Torchwood from the first episode. More adult in tone than Doctor Who but nonetheless - it has everything a top programme should have - humour, characters you can connect with, a bit of sex and violence and a decent storyline.

John Barrowman is fabulous as Capt Jack - the leader of the group. Eve Myles plays a character who stumbles into Torchwood and you completely sympathise with her character Gwen being simultaneously bewildered and overwhelmed by everything Torchwood. Burn Gorman and Naoki Mori play Owen and Tosh - both characters become more important as the series progresses and Gareth David-Lloyd plays Ianto - his role at the beginning of the season is miniscule but by episode 6, he holds his own!

There is so much humour and heart in each episode - towards the end of the series, the tone has changed again - dealing with life and death issues. And all this from a sci-fi show - but Torchwood is much more than that.

If you dont love Torchwood - you dont have a soul!!!!

Great show, great excitement and great storys. perfect. i love the characters that are in it. the way they act. the story behind them all. just wish there was more episodes

A much more 'adult' spin-off from Dr. Who with more sex, more (realistic) aliens and more convoluted story-lines. Initially a little slow to get into, but as the series progressed and the characters became more rounded and 3-dimensional, I became hooked on it. A very few of the in-jokes can best be appreciated if you had seen Captain Jack Harkness in Dr. Who, but not essential. Can't wait for the second series to be released!

I simply got pulled into torchwood because I invested in the characters, willing them all on and wanting to see what happened next. I orginally rented the DVDs, but then felt I wanted copies to keep, so that's why I came on eBay to find them, as in the shops they are still pretty expensive, and usually in singles. Admittedly, mine came as singles, but all at once, and came very quickly too, I was quite suprised! And now I can watch Jack and the gang whenever I like. CAn't wait to get series 2!

Having never seen Torchwood and my daughter and her friends going on about John Barrowman and Torchwood , recorded it when it was into the 2nd series and WOW its now a compulsory viewing!!!

Whan it was first Broadcast I didnt think I was going to like it, but I was wrong. It is very edgy and the characters are well rounded.
Led by Capt Jack , an ex time agent from the 51st century, this band of misfits, try to keep the earth , and themselves safe from any thing that falls through the rift.
I liked it so mutch I have just Bought the 1st series Box set

I found it a bit difficult to get into the first one but things really improved in each subsequent episode. Now I can't wait for the next series to be released on DVD.

I like to see how the interactions of each character progress, in any series, and in Torchwood I really enjoyed how they did progress.

Have watched all the episodes for the second time and this time I was able to get "into" them a lot quicker.

I wanted to own the entire Torchwood Series 1 Boxset so purchased it from eBay.

It has a good strong hard wearing outer box with an eye catching cover and the inner box opens up like a book to reveal all 6 DVDs inside.

There are 2-3 episodes per DVD and some extras and special features but I cannot comment on these as I don't like watching extras or using the special features.

The series follows a team of 5 members called Torchwood who work in an underground layer, dealing with aliens on a regular basis. Gwen Cooper is the main character for the first new episodes as the series is shown from her perspective. As you go through the episodes you learn the background to the other 4 characters and, of course, you have your usual plot twists and turns in each episode.

like the slightly darker sci fi side of doctor who.
dont like Gwen she is to skitish an surley she knows what its all about so why does she panic so much.

i loved this series when it was shown on tv and could not wait to get the DVD.
its very well put together and a great way to catch up before the new series starts on BBC Two.

Item arrived in perfect time for christmas, for my girlfriend, she loves this sci fi, i'm not sure whether for one of the main characters (captain Jack Harkness) who for one reason who can't be killed, and is so interesting and has lived such a long life it seems already, a very dark spin off from doctor who, but very recomended.

The box set itself contains so many added features, making of and the actors themselves talking about the Torchwood series.

This is a great box set i have always loved Dr Who and for me Torchwood is a great series as well, in my opinion the first season is the best, with some great episodes.

If you can pick it up for a £10 or less I would highly recommend it
