Torchwood at its best
From the point of view of an Australian who was able to see Series 1 but not yet Series 2 I had mixed feelings about Torchwood. However, I caught this Series 3 on a recent trip to the UK and was utterly gripped. The plotting and dramatic tension is kept tight and unpredictable throughout interspersed with subversive humour to lighten it up every so often until the powerful end. At the start the series had a Doctor Who feel to it but by the end as it got darker and darker I could see why it had to be Torchwood - it really is not aimed at pre-teens.
So if you are a Torchwood or Doctor Who fan you won't be disappointed and if you weren't one previously but are into science fiction you may just be won over.
(And if you want a measure of how compelling it is you should go through my experience of watching the first three episodes and then leaving the country so you have no idea how it finishes for 3 weeks!)
