TOMTOM 700 is excellent 25 of 28 people found this review helpful.
My Name is Tony Hogben, I own a 700 and purchased it a year ago and think its great, I have read a few reviews below and lots of other people reviewing this product dont know that they are talking about or have not used many other satnavs to compare them, the 700 has full 7 digit postcode support and takes you door to door, the GPS is sirf 3 and this is top of the range thier still to this day 6th march 2007 not a faster GPS unit on the market, ( Iread a review claiming the other units are faster and this is not correct, nothing is faster than the 700), some PDA computers running tomtom software might work out a route quicker, but we are talking about the 700 plans a 500 miles in under 25 seconds so its not slow and faster than 95% of others at planning routes as well). The interface is very very easy to use and the fact this got postcode, full voice makes it the best selling European satnav on the market. The 700 has now been replaced by the 710, however must customers wont use the ipod connection that the 710 has, the maps are the same so your paying extra for a 710 for features that you wont use, if you can pick up a 700 for a good price you wont be disapointed.

Mid range tomtom sat nav device, since been replaced by the tomtom 710 (Which is much the same, only with a wider screen and more compact). Easy to use even for the beginner, you can either type in, via the 3.5" touchscreen, the town then road name (even the street number) or the postcode and it will take you straight there. You can store your frequently visited places so you don't have to re-type address each time. Very useful, especially if you have speed camera locations loaded on it (Might pay for itself in saved fines !) There are many free websites where you can download POI's (Points of Interest) like swimming pools, congestion charge zones or a particular shop brand. Beware, thieves love them, mine was stolen, I have the 510 now but the 700 is just the same when it comes to directions and after all, that's what it's for. Bin your maps and get one ! FEATURES : • Door-to-door cross border planning, find your way to any address across Western Europe & Scandanavia, all pre-installed on a 2.5 GB hard drive. • Full postcode navigation for simple and accurate selection of your destination (UK & NL only) • A choice of routes, quickest, shortest or avoiding toll roads and congestion charge areas • Hands-free calling via Bluetooth™ connection with Bluetooth™ mobile phones, simply tap the GO screen to accept a call or to make one and talk through the GO while you drive • Itinerary planning, plan your trip by defining multiple waypoints and destinations • Review and test the calculated route before you actually start driving • Anti-glare screen, always an optimal view, even in direct sunlight • Phone control support: directly call a point of interest through the GO • Speaks more than 30 languages in over 50 voices PLEASE SEE MY GUIDE ALSO !
