  TOMTOM 700 is excellent

My Name is Tony Hogben, I own a 700 and purchased it a year ago and think its great, I have read a few reviews below and lots of other people reviewing this product dont know that they are talking about or have not used many other satnavs to compare them, the 700 has full 7 digit postcode support and takes you door to door, the GPS is sirf 3 and this is top of the range thier still to this day 6th march 2007 not a faster GPS unit on the market, ( Iread a review claiming the other units are faster and this is not correct, nothing is faster than the 700), some PDA computers running tomtom software might work out a route quicker, but we are talking about the 700 plans a 500 miles in under 25 seconds so its not slow and faster than 95% of others at planning routes as well).

The interface is very very easy to use and the fact this got postcode, full voice makes it the best selling European satnav on the market. The 700 has now been replaced by the 710, however must customers wont use the ipod connection that the 710 has, the maps are the same so your paying extra for a 710 for features that you wont use, if you can pick up a 700 for a good price you wont be disapointed.

  Tomtom GO 700

Mid range tomtom sat nav device, since been replaced by the tomtom 710 (Which is much the same, only with a wider screen and more compact). Easy to use even for the beginner, you can either type in, via the 3.5" touchscreen, the town then road name (even the street number) or the postcode and it will take you straight there. You can store your frequently visited places so you don't have to re-type address each time. Very useful, especially if you have speed camera locations loaded on it (Might pay for itself in saved fines !)
There are many free websites where you can download POI's (Points of Interest) like swimming pools, congestion charge zones or a particular shop brand.
Beware, thieves love them, mine was stolen, I have the 510 now but the 700 is just the same when it comes to directions and after all, that's what it's for. Bin your maps and get one !

FEATURES :
• Door-to-door cross border planning, find your way to any address across Western Europe & Scandanavia, all pre-installed on a 2.5 GB hard drive.
• Full postcode navigation for simple and accurate selection of your destination (UK & NL only)
• A choice of routes, quickest, shortest or avoiding toll roads and congestion charge areas
• Hands-free calling via Bluetooth™ connection with Bluetooth™ mobile phones, simply tap the GO screen to accept a call or to make one and talk through the GO while you drive
• Itinerary planning, plan your trip by defining multiple waypoints and destinations
• Review and test the calculated route before you actually start driving
• Anti-glare screen, always an optimal view, even in direct sunlight
• Phone control support: directly call a point of interest through the GO
• Speaks more than 30 languages in over 50 voices

Have used a Go 700 in France 4 times last year and i would have been up the creek without the peverbial paddle, had i not had it! Easy to use and set up. Bluetooth allows handsfree phone calls (providing your phone supports bluetooth) which saves you pulling over each time the phone rings. All in all, a superb piece of kit, that can be easily moved from one car to another, so, if you go away and hire a car, just take your tot tom, plug in and away you go.

well i did, and i am glad i did, i was looking for a sat nav for quite a while and diddnt know what to go for friends tell you one thing the papers tell you another, i setteled on a tomtom go 700 because i wanted a sat nav with every thing on it, first it had to have speed cameras pre loaded on it, this does and works very well, second it had to have bluetooth built in for hands free this works well and very easy to use, third touch screen a must i think plus maps of england, ireland scotland, wales and a lot of europe . this sat nav is so easy to use and understand you get a choice of voices to use or down load a celeb voice, in fact there is so much on it i dont even use, i would reccomend one of these to any one thinking of getting one, there may be better/cheaper/thiner/smaller but i have'nt used one but i have this and i dont know how i got anywhere before i got this and i wont be without it now a good buy in my opinion

Tomtom GO 700 vs Orange spv PDA

my boss has just bought the tomtom 700 and ive just bought the cheaper altenative as in, the orange spv 1000 pda with tom tom software. so we decided to swap for a few days to test each others out see what we thought.... to cut a long story short the tomtom is pants!!! the pda's processer operates much faster than the tomtom, so much less waiting for re-routes etc. even my boss agrees he should of gone for a pda with tomtom software installed. just thought you might like to know. hope you find this info helpful.

Bought this item around 15 months ago just as the range was changing to the newer models. The TT has been 100% reliable and as it uses a hard disk system rather than memory cards you can store loads of maps on it without the worry of losing or damaging memory cards. One great feature is the ability to download safety camera locations, meaning as you approach a known camera site the TT will warn you and you can adjust your speed if needed. Try and get your TT with the newest available maps(map version numbers on TT website) as upgrades are pretty pricey but can be downloaded if you prefer. This product is worth its weight in gold, but with its hands free telephone feature and customisable POI's this unit stands out. With newer ones now on the market you should be able to grab a bargain.

this was advertised at christmas i wanted to buy as a present.
the advertising was very informative pictures dimensions, wasn't describe as reconditioned, at the bottom of the page in extremly small print in brackets stated reconditioned the price was £20 cheaper than buying a new one from high street shop therefore i felt cheated the item worked for two weeks. after leaving negative feedback i received a nasty reply from the seller. basically this was a con

Ok, the TomTom GO 700 isn't the latest model - but it is a TomTom, arguably 1 of the best sat nav systems you could ever use! With its multi-voice options & clear 'up close' moving map (that also reads all side streets as you approach them) its a top piece of kit for any motorist, you can't go wrong with a TomTom!!

The unit arrived very quickley and was as advertised. The price was an absolute bargain.
The TomTom was not for me but for my girlfriends parents, who are not as technically minded as myself. They were very pleased with it and have got to grips with using it very quickly.
The company it was purchased from would certainly get my recommendations.

  A Great Buy!
Review created: 10/03/07
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I purchased my TomTom 700 about 2 months ago and love it. The map is really clear and intuitive, the POI (Points Of Interest) eg petrol stations have got me out of trouble more than once, the postcode entry makes destination finding a cinch. The remote is not just a gizmo - I actually use it a lot if I'm driving. On the downside, it doesn't seem to like my SonyEricsson K800 - it'll connect for traffic info but not calls, and I found the instruction manual worse than useless (being psycic helps...)On balance I would strongly recommend it though. Most of the team in the office use TomTom and all are happy, in fact, it is a lot clearer than some of the high-end built-in Satnavs!

Size betrays its' age but still a good satnav
Review created: 14/03/09

Brought out on 2005 it is a bit chunky. But the 700 still has modern features - bluetooth allows you to turn it into a speakerphone for your car, add your phonebook numbers to it and update traffic reports using your phone as a modem - very clever.

Touchscreen is easy enough to use when you get use to it. In short, its showing its age but still has all the mod cons. A good budget buy, I am very happy after buying one on e-bay for £50.

  Tomtom Go 700 Sat nav

Unit is great, does everything I want it to, great feature is the bluetooth connection so I can use my mobile hands free, although the address book import feature does not work so you have to enter them via your PC, but it doesn't take long and it's easy (once tomtom had emailed the instructions). Being able to download celeb voices is fun. Directions are clear and precise and you can trust them enough not to keep looking at the screen. Connection is easy via the docking system and it even switches the unit on for you. Input is easy via the touch screen, or you can use the radio-controlled remote. Overall an excellent piece of kit.

TOM TOM GO 700 GPS RECEIVER -
Excellent Tom Tom, i hadn't a clue about GPS, Satellites.ect. so i looked on the net did my research and thought this one was the best, how right i was, it has been excellent, even when driving another way to the route it chose for me, it soon picks up what you are thinking and changes the route straight away, bleeps when speed cameras or cautions you to what speed you are doing, i feel totally confident now,and feel at ease to drive down to the south of france next year, knowing i will totally depend on my TOM TOM. Good value for money. I have the disk to plan routes to family and friends that live far away, i know now if i get stuck in a traffic jam, i can rely on My TOM TOM for alternative routes i would never of attempted to take before owning one.

There is not a lot I can say about this as the seller (acp07) who sold it ,did so knowing that the item does not work, but described it as working,so buyers beware of this seller he cannot be trusted, and will con you out of your hard earned cash.

i liked the price of the tomtom that i bought but when it arrived the front had rather a lot of scratches on witch if they are reboxed items from tomtom i did not expect the scratches all so the mapping was all so out of date.
i bought this item on the price as it was supposedly reboxed and the mapping had been brought up to date. so i had to spend another £30 pound to bring it up to date.

I decided to I wanted a Tomtom for Christmas as I don't really know the area I live in to well. I thought that it would be very helpful in getting around and also help me learn my way around too. Theproduct is very good and has a lot of "bells n' whistles to play with". The hands free device is very useful if not probably a little dangerous if you descided to use it on the move.
The directions are good on the whole and easy to follow, however a short cut can sometimes prove a little hairy. I'll even forgive it for not knowing that my at least 8 year old house even exists. The screen is good and clear in most sunny conditions.
I would recomend the Tomtom GO 700 to anyone and thought for the money you ca pay for a new one you'd want to know you where going to use it a lot.
