Very useful, especially if you have speed camera locations loaded on it (Might pay for itself in saved fines !)
There are many free websites where you can download POI's (Points of Interest) like swimming pools, congestion charge zones or a particular shop brand.
Beware, thieves love them, mine was stolen, I have the upgraded 510 now but the 300 is just the same when it comes to directions and after all, that's what it's for. Bin your maps and get one !

At the lower end of the TomTom® range the TomTom GO 300® GPS Receiver is still one of the best all-in-one navigation systems. You can choose to find you destination by postcode or by entering the address. The screen is of a size that can easily be seen at a glance, so it does not take your attention of the road for an unsafe length of time.

The TomTom® range can all be updated and customized with different colour maps, and with different voices, so you will find something that you will find easy going.

I have both the Tomtom GO 300® and the Garmin i3® and in my opinion, I would recommend the TomTom every time.

I buy the Go 300 even there is lots version are available of satnav but this one is simple easy to use and got everything which need a siple user like door to door planning and full post code support, in a satnav why should I need a mp3 player because that thing is for guiding you I already got one mp3 player in my car so many peoples are buying tomtom 910 I am not disharting them but this on is simple and very good and mainly good value like you can buy within £150 other satnav start from £250 so I strongly prefer Go 300 after that I must say I always prefer to buy things from e-bay I buy a tomtom go 300 with confidence that what ever he or she is selling e-bay got eye on him/her and if anything go wrong e-bay will sort the problem for me and my money going in safe hands via safe hands (paypal)

I HAVE JUST UPDATED TO THE TOMTOM 710, FROM MY VERY RELIABLE TOMTOM 300, ONLY THING THAT LETS THE TOMTOM 300 DOWN IS HANDS FREE CALLING LIKE WHAT YOU GET ON ALL THE OTHER MODELS, HOWEVER APART FROM THAT THE TOMTOM 300 STILL HAS TO BE THE BEST AFFORDABLE GPS NAV ON THE MARKET. TIP: DON'T BOTHER WITH GETTING YOUR MAPS AND STUFF FROM TOMTOM DIRECT UNLESS ITS FREE, SEARCH THE WEB AND TORRENTS SITES I HAVE UPGRADED MY 710 FOR FREE WITH ALL THE MAPS OF THE WORLD THAT I HAVE ON FILE IF NEEDED, VOICES,SPLASH SCREENS,POSTCODES MAP FIXED ECT ECT.

Wanted to try one before I SPENT A LOT OF MONEY ON A NEW one but am so pleased with a very reasonable 2nd-hand one that I will keep this one and not replace it.

Decided to get one of these after borrowing a friends for a trip to London. Absolutely brilliant - takes all the worry out of getting somewhere new and if you go wrong it sorts you out. Should have got one sooner - it would have saved a lot of stress !

Like the ease of use on this unit,its easy to uprade with Tomtom home,
The only thing lacking is the ability to change the arrow to your car,its easy to add more voices and shut down screens etc,Make sure you get a new upgraded map as older ones tend to not have all the new roads installed.........

I bought it as my previous sat nav system was so uneliable and useless that I smashed it to pieces in a fit of rage when I was lost. I wanted to buy a Tomtom beacause a few of my friends have them and I find them one of the best platforms. I find it very easy to use and it always gets me to where i want to go without a problem. One of the things I don't about like it the fact that the unit is not the smallest one on offer so would be no use for carrying round and even trying to hide it in the car is a pain sometimes if I've got a lot of stuff in the glovebox already.

I am a lorry driver and travel all over the UK on a daily basis.The TomTom 300
takes the stress out of multi-dropping parcels. Obtaining recent maps to install onto the TomTom is an easy process. It can be adapted to your own personal requirements. Different voices can make the TomTom a fun but worthwhile additionfor any driver. On the downside is that occassionally it will direct you to a wrong road.

Buying a second hand tom tom requires you to ask some very specific questions of the seller. Once the battery starts to wear out on these units they will only work when plugged into the car or mains sockets. you must buy one that works on the internal battery alone. You can get replacement batteries for the tom tom at a reasonable price, but refitting them involves a great deal of very fiddly work, with most of the guts of the unit having to be taken apart.
Apart from this, i think the tomtom is the best around.

touch screen on tomtom go 300 is ideal instead of fidgeting with small buttons, reacts very quickly to demand at a simple touch of the screen......very clear directions and maps for areas that are unknown to driver...first tiem purchaser of this type of system, this was required to start a career as taxi driver and foudn to be very useful

i purchased this tomtom go for a present. they are easy to use and are reliable. the thing i dont like about it is, where i live it takes me down a dirt track to my house and this was the road to my street 35 years ago. i have tried to update map but to noavaile, apart from that ive had no problems.

I decided to buy this, although it's now discontinued, because of the price and the name. We use it in one of our cars. My other car has a £2,000 media and Satnav system installed so I have something to compare this system with. Works just as well. It has a really effective touch-screen system and it's small so can be taken out of the car easily.

We are really lucky as this technology is mostly European and over in the States their stuff doesn't work as well. Because they are building all the time in the USA the maps go out of date fast and updates cost. I paid around £100 for this. You can now buy Sat Nav systems for less than that new, but I don't know how they compare.

never had a chance to use the tomtom as the seller sold me a faulty appliance ,and now refuses to refund me.never the less i have had the oppertunityto use a fully working tomtom and they are really good ,which is why i bidded and won one on ebay its just been unfortunate i dealt with a bad ebayer who took my money and sold me a dud .we are currently in a dispute .

I brought the item as i wanted to be able to take my son out for the day and not got lost ,unfortunatley it does not work and seller refuses to refund and keeps being insulting

i found the 300 easy to use ,after reading the manuel
and basicly,put it i car and have a go.
my only gripe is that when i set a destination,
and go by fastest route, it wants to send me through
town centres !!
which i like to avoid.

Initially Iwas really impressed, it was easy to use then I realised that the connecting wire was faulty! It looks as if it has been cut down from another make of satnav. It works intermittently - a bit disappointing!

I bought this for my daughter because she'd just started doing her driving instructor training & decided between us which to buy. She decided on a Tom Tom due to their reputation & also because her friend has one. She likes how easy it was to set up & use + the clarity/clearness of the speech. It's hard to pinpoint any dislikes due to its reliability & what my daughters stated already if i were to buy one i'd go for a Tom Tom myself.

Gets you to exactly where you want to go. Although it is important to set up your preferences before use or be prepared to go the shortest route which might be down one lane, remote roads.
