There Will Be Blood (DVD)

Watched last night and I'm still living with it . Dan D Lewis's performance was impecable , always original , always full of surprise . He lifts the level of acting for all the cast . Great directing and filming , to me it's the best thing I've seen for a long time .

Hard to describe how good this movie is, Daniel Day Lewis plays the role of Danial Plainview, a hard nosed oil man who takes his son on a journey of oil prospecting and exploitation. Daniel Plainview basically views people as commodities to exploit, even his own son! His main adversary is evangelist Eli Sunday, who's family sells Daniel the oil rights on their property in return for money towards a church. Everything goes very bad after the oil well explodes and Daniels Son HW is deafened, this is where the true side of Daniel comes out, his true dark soul. Paul Dano plays Eli brilliantly, and Daniel Day Lewis is fantastic in the lead role, the rest of the cast are brilliant, the script and story is clever, pacey and compelling. The direction and cinematography are great, I can see why the movie won 2 Oscars and 5 Baftas. Interesting fact, Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead won a Bafta for the music score.

In a nut shell I thought the movie was just mainly focused on the main character and his life and his drive to be the best oil tycoon in the biz. This alone was extremely interesting, but.......what was so great about this movie was the "other" main character and his same struggle for power. They were even in competition of each other. The drama, the blood, the hard life, the "murders" too riveting I was on the edge of my seat and at the end the last line I was speechless...( it was a twisted ending with interesting simplistic meaning." loved it!

Went to see this film at the cinema and loved it, an epic film. Full of intellectual content and twists and turns, with a fantastic twist at the end.

The acting is first class in every part of the film even the small children, some characters you hate and some you love, not sure if it is a true story but you certainly get sucked in to it's plot with a passion.

This film will grab you within the first few minutes and keep you there right until the credits at the end.

I was very impressed with the quality and speed at which I recieved the DVD. Nothing to complain about, genuinely content with my order. Great film.

What an atmospheric film!! From the long lingering opening sequence, through the majestic landscapes and beautiful cinematography you can't help but be impressed. Oh, and then there's that performance you may have heard about. Daniel Day-Lewis is astonishing. For such a meek and mild mannered man to deliver such a forceful performance of a brutal, dark character is so impressive.
