Album Notes 2 LPs on 1 CD.The O'Jays first two albums of the '80s were their first not to be wholly masterminded by talented producer/songwriters Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, architects of the Philadelphia International sound that had defined the group's work in the previous decade. On THE YEAR 2000, the group was officially involved in production, and on MY FAVORITE PERSON they contributed to the songwriting, both for the first time. Overall, however, the group's basic sound is hardly altered at all. Gamble and Huff's absence is more than compensated for by the presence of their longtime collaborators Bunny Sigler and Gene McFadden, and the material is first-rate, particularly the classically soulful R&B hit "Your Body's Here With Me (But Your Mind's on the Other Side of Town)."
