This album is a classic. Without doubt the main tracks are Comfortably Numb, Brick in the Wall and Hey You. No where near are chilled as the earlier Pink Floyd albums, but far more accessable than what came after. If you get a chance to watch the movie, some of the tracks may make more sense.
I knew what I was buying and it came quickly and was just as described! This album typifies the nonumental musical skills of Roger Walters and was the bands first venture into film making.
unarguably the best album ever. if you dont own it, you need it. unbelievably nearly 30 years old. where did they find the inspiration to write such a politically correct album. watch the film also it all makes perfect sense. a must have!!
i very like this band and love their songs and disliked prices of this cd but finaly i got it in very good price and that was main reason to bought it.
recieved in good time. was pleased with the product it was everything it was said to be on here. would love to do business with this seller again and would recommend this seller to other buyers on ebay.
The second disc has fantastic recording techniques- helicopters etc makes you believe they are outside it is a brilliant album with few duff tracks not quite up to wish you were here standard but millimeters away- "HEY YOU out there in the cold always doing what your told can you hear me" - BUY IT NOW >>>>>
Never dates, has it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are classics through out the years in music. This stands with the best .Dark Side may just be above this one but its a great 2 disc cd.Ive just seen the Australian Pink Floyd show in which the wall was the first set.Fantastic! and so I sent for the cd perfect both a pleasure to see and hear.
because the pink floyd is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Wall is almost a story rather than an album - even if you don't have other Floyd CD's this is one to have. It is a 2 CD set and must be listened to from start to finish and VERY important - don't put this on Random !!!
I believe it tells the story of a boy who grew up in the war and as he gets older he looses the plot a bit - sounds like he had a strict mother, is father was killed in the war, his wife leaves him .. oh and he's lead singer in a rock band. Typical rock and roll moment when he trashes a hotel room ... and then wants to take over the world. Maybe I am reading toooo much into this and its just a collection of songs but eitherway I highly recommend this !
Its a brilliant end of the night CD - especially if you have had a few drinks :-)
Also if you like the CD then get the DVD - its basically the story played out with Sir Bob Geldof as the main character "Pink"
I've had this album on vinyl for years, and still love it but find a CD copy much more useable.Listening to it more often has brought back alot of good memories.
I REALISE THAT WHAT I'M ABOUT TO SAY IS LIABLE TO GET ME VISITS FROM THE MEN IN LONG WHITE COATS,BUT HERE GOES. I'M SELLING "THE WALL" BY PINK FLOYD BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE IT.I'VE BEEN A FLOYD FAN SINCE "MEDDLE" IN THE EARLY 70'S.AND I'VE LOVED MOST OF THEIR STUFF SINCE THEN,EXCEPT THE WALL. I THINK IT IS DULL,UNORIGINAL AND OVERLONG. APART FROM COMFORTABLY NUMB, HEY YOU AND THE SINGLE THE REST IS PERFECTLY FORGETTABLE. SORRY DON'T TIE THE JACKET TOO TIGHT,PLEASE.
What can you say about this album . This is a story beautifully and cleverly told . A real good look inside the mind of a tortured soul ,there are lessons to be learned from these wise words . I have always loved this album and have never ever grown tired of it . This album is iconic to say the very least the music ,the story , the voices ! Nothing has ever come close to this it is truly an album that stands alone it what it achieves . It is worth the extra money and at 30 quid in the shops it will probably still be a great bargain on ebay SO get while you can this lbum is a must have !
i always have had this album and it needed replacing.its a great double disk album of pink floyd.it includes great guitars, keyboards etc and its most original lyrics if not a little bit unusuall.overall a must have for any pink floyd fan.includes a full lyric booklet.
GREAT ALBUM, VERY NOSTALGIC , AND USEFUL ITME THAT IS GREAT FOR ANYONE WHO LOVES THIS GROUP WITH THIER AMAZING TALENT AND UNIQUE STYLE. VERY DEEP, VERY MOVING AND INTENSE. NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED AND ALOS GREAT FOR ANALYSIS OF THE MIND. .
For a concept album this is a classic, i have only listened to this album, and i have to admit i really did not know about their music, i had a surprise, some of the deep move music is impressive, gather your listening skilss for this album, reason why i say this, you can make a lot from it lyric wise.
I think as a album on its own in other words just listen to this album only its great, give this a go, it does get a bit heavy, but as for talent this one album where full sound is there recommended.
This was the best album i have ever bought , i got it at a bargain price the item itself was perfect, but to hear the sounds of quality music was absolutely ebay-fastastic.
I am a big floyd fan, but seem to be in a bit of a corner of my own on this one. If you are new to floyd this is a good starting point, but they have done much better albums (Dark Side of the moon and Atom Heart Mother - to name two). higlights of this album are comfortably numb and youug lust.
The major downside to this album for me is that is sounds very 80's which is quite incredible considerng it is a 70s album! but nevertheless still a great album. Also has a very good resale value (as long as you keep it in good condition) - only problem is that it is a classic album so you will probaby never want to sell it.
