This recording that follows Pretzel has the same great arrangements and see many great musicians playing in it. The recording sees a marevellous Larry Carlton playing fire guitar solos in subtle and gentle inspiring jazz song. The album opens with "kid charlemagne" which as in my opinion one of the best guitar solos in the history of rock.
i first heard this back in 76, its original release date. the track "kid charlemagne" was about " oswald moseley". he being one of the great "chemists" of the "acid" (LSD) craze sweeping america. from this this 1st track to the last, the album is peppered with references to drugs; little digs at 70s USA; and some amazing jazz/funk/rock music. donald fagens voice layed over some astounding sounds. in my opinion, they peaked with this album.
