  Great build up..... then nothing.

Not exactly sixth sense here, in fact not much sense at all. Once you've worked out what might be "happening" you then start to imagine how they might solve the problem, but instead it just stops, then stats again somewhere else. What a let down, the poor ending almost made me go and jump off a roof.

to be honest, im not fussed about bad acting, though i was dissapointed with the way certain parts were acted.
some peoples reactions to the things happening wasn't at all what would be expected, though maybe thats bad correography?

once the "riddle is solved" that its not actually ghastly or forces beyond our realm, but rather scientific, you realise that its just a matter of solving the problem, and dissapointed me.

to sum up, we followed a group of people for an hour and a half that were running away from deadly wind.-
wasnt something i would watch again, but thats me.

Read the back cover of the DVD in ASDA and decided it was going to be an excellent film. How wrong i was! This film had so much potential too but if it wasn't for the director i am not sure how this film could have been made as it is rubbish.

My copy of the DVD was received in good time and the ebay side of things no problems at all so this review is not aimed at the ebay seller!

To begin with take no notice of the front cover on the dvd cos that is nowhere in the film. The begining is pretty good and you feel like you will be in for a treat after all Dan Storey says on the back cover of the dvd A Brilliant, Nail Bitingly Ferocious Thriller. Was he watching the same film I was because I certainly wouldn't say Brilliant or nail biting it was okay as a whole some parts were very good and totally unexpected. I'll leave you the reader to decide what you will but you'll probably find this as the same old..........

not the best story line but the good things about this film is that it jumps straight into everythink so theres no booring build up in this film, very strange film about sucuide alot of that in this film some bits not the most pleasant but is well worth the watch.
i am unsure if i would watch it again but im glad i have seen it i heard it was surposed to be about aliens but turns out it wasnt i wont give it away about what it is etc but i would say it is a good watch

  Great Film
Review created: 01/08/09(updated 02/08/09)

I had read a few negative reports on this film before I bought it. I still bought it and after watching the movie. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story is very good and the nmain actor 'Mark Wahlberg' is excellent. You never get bored with this film trying to work out why people are dying? Very entertaining! The reason behind the deaths will certainly make you think about what we are doing to this planet. The Film is a bit of Si - Fi, but I recommend it 5 Stars. I will watch this DVD again in a few months. It is very good...

the movie starts in the park in new york, with everyone stopping and then killing themselves. the opening sucide scene was not expected at all. this movie was great, but do think that the rating should have been higher than a 15. this film shows graphic images of people committing sucide, and my daughter and her friends who are of age to view this movie, were most upset, the one scene with teh man going under the lawn mower was not necessary to see happening, we all knew what he was going to do. i feel that this film could cause some mental or pyscological damage if they are that way inclined or unhappy with life or on drugs, so maybe higher rating.
but otherwise this film was good, well written and thought out. made you think about things. i enjoyed it, though some scenes were bit oooooooh!!!!

Not what it could have been.

I am a fan of M Night's films (Signs, Lady in the Water, the Village), but this left me feeling disapointed. It could have been such a good film. But not only did the pace of the film and story leave me feeling let down, but the actors and acting ability was so poor, they weren't at all believable and I didn't care whether the main characters made it or not. Boo!

  VERY DISAPOINTING ENDING!!
Review created: 22/03/09
by:

THIS FILM STARTED OFF OKAY, IT MADE YOU TRY AND WORK OUT WHAT WAS ACTUALLY HAPPENING.... BUT I COULD NOT BELIEVE THE ENDING IT WAS LIKE THE STORY STOPPED HALF WAY THROUGH AND YOU REALLY DONT KNOW IF IT WAS A SCIENTIFIC REASON AS TO WHY PEOPLE WHERE KILLING THEMSELVES!! IT LEAVES IT OPEN FOR A SEQUAL, WHICH I WONT BOTHER BUYING AS IT WAS A WASTE OF MONEY. SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT.

it started off promising, action, shock and then died!
Review created: 05/03/09

like war of the worlds it started out great - action and shock scenes and then it slowly started to die like the extras in the film, the last 20 mins it limped along to collapse on the welcome mat of the main characters home - people you didn't really care about 'cos you didn't partically like - especially the wife, who truly needed a bitch slap to knock some backbone into!! if like me you are curious about this film it is worth watching just for the first 20 mins, if that.

I had missed seeing this at the Cinema's and was always I film I wanted to watch. Its well worth buying, I love horror films, and found this one lived up to all the hype, infact some of the scene's are very graphic, even I went yuk.
The acting was excellent, and lots of twists and turns. If you have the chance I would recommend you buy it and see for yourself

We had really wanted to see this movie for alog time and had missed it at the cinema. We were unable to find it at christmas so I tried ebay on the off chance. Were happy to say we were successful and were very satisfied with it. The film wasn't as good though as we were expecting, maybe a bit over rated?

  Unbreakable meets The Village
Review created: 19/12/08

There comes a time when you wonder what else Directors can use to make a film. In this one it is plants that join together to let off a vapour that can make you kill yourself. It doesnt sound great but it turned out to be a good film.

Mark Walburg as ever plays a great lead. The deaths are not as shocking as saw or hostel but still makes you watch in slow motion (lawnmower).

If i would change anything it would be the ending. Not as dramatic but it has opened it up for a sequel like most films do aka Crank 2 (Come on he fell from a plane he couldnt live could he).

I will make it up to you about this film but it can be one you stick in the dvd player and chill out and watch without thinking you have just wasted 86mins of your life watching.

Enjoy.

  great
Review created: 28/11/08

Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography. I would recommend the director's cut that includes scenes about the relationship between the lead character and his estranged wife and helps you to understand the motivation behind his decision. The run time is 183 minutes for the directors cut and 120 minutes for the cinema version. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of extras, which any fan of this classic would expect to be included. There's only a 20-minute interview with the director and other shot "making-of" vignettes.

This film started with plenty of action and continued to the end. Although Mark Wwahlberg did his usual good acting, it cerainly was not one of his best films. I think 86 minutes was long enough and it did end as it started with the beginning repeating itself. The director M. Night Shyamalan done quite a good apocalyptic thriller with The Beginning. I bought this film because he also done Signs which I thought was great.
