Never mind if this is a PinkFloyd or Roger Waters album. This is an overlooked classic which is now starting to get some recognition 20-odd years after release.

A meloncholic masterpiece of political opinions and military outrage and grief. Not an album that I can listen to often as it is just to heavy to digest, although one for the collection and if you are feeling tired or fed up anyway.....

pink floyd vs the Falklands war - very political
Review created: 24/05/09

Interesting album released in the USA. Written in protest at the Falklands war but not released in the UK - presumably because there was no majority anti-war feeling here. Read the Wikipedia entry about it.
I bought it after hearing it mentioned in a film on TV, realised we had never heard of it, found it on Ebay in minutes and ordered it there and then.
Classic PF sound, some similar melodies to both past and later work which is both a good and a bad thing. Gilmour's musical influence is very strong. A good album but in my opinion not their best. No regrets buying it but personally I prefer "The Division Bell".

  the final cut
Review created: 08/11/08

the final cut is not new to me, for many years i have found it an overwhelmingly emotional piece of music by roger waters .
it is a true masterpiece of music with songwriting of unparallel genius .
waters also gives us a masterclass in the art of how to put an album together,
in brief , waters rages and confuses at the political injustices of war and the loss of his own father in world war 2
written in the the backdrop of the hugely military & nuclear era of the early eighties the album is for the finely tuned pink Floyd ear only
the lead track "final cut " by no co-incidence is my favourite and i challenge any body not to be moved by this track

Brought me back to my old days and a great trip down memory lane.
The Final Cut did not get very good reviews, but to me it is on parr with The Wall (though not as long!). Loved it... love it!
