  CD a copy?
Review created: 27/05/09

On buying this CD and receiving it I thought I had the genuine article, on closer inspection it appears to be a copy with a poor printed inlay and no insert booklet. The cd plays well but cannot be "skipped" if I choose to change to a different track.
With hindsight I should of contacted the seller with these points.
I have put it down to experience, although very disappointed, and warn other buyers to look out for this type of selling.

One of the best from Pink Floyd (which one is bad?)

Whilst doing my accounts at home (painter and decorator) I put on The Division Bell from Pink Floyd as I had recently bought a copy via eBay and had only just loaded it onto the computer.

Pink Floyd have always been good and this just backs up the case as, with seemingly little effort, they create music, ebbing and flowing, with some cracking guitar solos and superb melodies.

Some might say that ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ and ‘The Wall’ are better, and professional people in the music industry will give their critical reasons but this (and every other record made by them to be honest) is/are just as good.

Worth putting into your collection.

Brilliant mix of Floyd at their best .. highlight for me is the stunning "Coming Back To Life" which if it were the only track on it would make it worthwhile ! Thankfully the other tracks are all excellent as well.
First album from the Floyd after Syd Barrett had left I believe.

Whilst not a classic Floyd album, The Division Bell shows the consumer that the band could still make great music in the 90s.
'What do You Want from Me' and 'Take It back' are probably best known, but in the post-Barrett era of Floyd this is a high watermark that previous albums like 'A collection of Great dance Songs' could not meet.

  Floyd-Dbell..
Review created: 21/04/09

Considering this is another project without the angst and sarcasm of Roger Waters! It for me is a good album to escape into. The album is very atmospheric with great harmonies and could easily be mistaken for some sound track to a BIG Budget movie!! LOVE IT and simply had to replace my Cassette version of it...

This was one of pink floyds later albums, and a lot of die hard pink floyd fans are mainly into their earlier work.
however I thought this was their best album! yes even beter than 'wish you were here' and 'dark side of the moon'. it has my all time favourite pink floyd song 'marooned' on it and just about every song has an enchanting solo in it. it's not quite as 'out there' so to speak as some of their other work, with slightly less randome noises and not so many long introductions like you will find on previouse albums.
but don't wory it is still very different from you typical rock album and very much pink floyd still. but in mu humble opinion the work of a band that has learnt from their experiences and produced a very balanced piece of work.

definetly worth checking out! even if you are not normaly such a big pink floyd fan, you might well like this one!

  Pink Floyd-The Division Bell
Review created: 07/03/09

This cd is a bit of a landmark in Pink Floyd's long history. With Roger Walters leaving the band we have some new music that is on our level rather than dwelling on wars and politics.(not that previous albums were bad they were great!) This album reflects ourselves, our relationships, communication with each other rather than focusing on others. (like Rogers father) The music is great, distinctively Floyd, some parts really take you back to older albums without being boring flashbacks. This is Floyd at its best! a most welcome addition to my collection!

Pink Floyd - The Division Bell (CD 1994)
Review created: 04/11/08

This is one of the most definitive CDs of the 90s - absolutely superb. I bought the original and played it so much it wore out so had to buy another. I believe Pink Floyd are the best group ever. Long live their music. Still well worth buying even if you do not know the group their music is mesmerising.

  too much looking back
Review created: 22/07/08

for me the final pink floyd album was "the wall". "the final cut" was more rogers work than a band album but he needed gilmore for the guitar work. so anything after that i've always been septical about. however after 14 years i now see i've missed out on a good pink floyd album, it's not great, just good.the first thing i noticed was at least half the songs on the album are digs at roger. "poles apart", "what do you want from me", "a great day for freedom", "coming back to life" and "lost for words". "poles apart" being the most obvious one with lyrics like "hey you....did you ever realise what you'd become?". it seems sad that the band chose to look back with bitterness than look forward with hope. this is the reason i don't think it's a great album.
however there are some good points to this album, gilmores playing still sounds great, nick masons drumming for me is the best he's done since "dark side" and the keyboards and piano of wright give the album an uplifting feel. all in all the band's playing is nice and tight. do they bring it over in their live performences? listen to "pulse" and you'll hear for yourself. so if you like pink floyd you'll like this album, it's got what you'd expect. if you love pink floyd and know the bands history you might find it hard to listen to the band slating a man who took them to places they would never of been without him.

a lot of people consider 'the wall' or 'dark side of the moon' as the definitive pink floyd albums, but this is my personal favourite. the songs are more mature, well structured and memorable. the production is excellent giving the sense that your at a full blown concert. plus it has the brilliant track 'high hopes' that gives me goose bumps every time i hear it. well recommended for floyd fans and rock fans.

The Bell Toll's For Pink Floyd
Review created: 26/01/08

After a seven year hiatus,Floyd released what would retrospectively become their swan song.
With Roger Waters still absent and seemingly no chance of any reconciliation,
Gilmour enlisted his wife (Polly Samson) to try and fill some of the songwriting and lyrical void created by the aforementioned Rog.
That aspect aside, this album works quite well and sounds better after repeated listens.
Although not as good as some of it`s predecessors, it is still a decent offering from the Prog masters and excellent live versions of some tracks were included in their mammoth world tour that followed.
I still live in hope of a re-united Pink Floyd, but with no realistic expectation of this happening, I have to be content with listening to their catalogue, and this album is one worth listening to.

right up there with their best ....
Review created: 05/01/08

Couldn't believe my luck when I managed to replace my beloved 'Division Bell' album after losing it a few years ago - and a bargain to boot!.

Wonderful music, sort of chillout feel to some of it and more modern than I rmembered. A couple of belting songs, especailly 'What do you want from me' and something of a curio in Rick Wright's vocals all through 'Wearing the inside out' - a delight.

Although many hardcore PF fans regard any note played by any group of people daring to call themselves Pink Floyed after the band famously broke up in the 80s as tantamount to sacreligious,no-one who enjoys really good music played so wonderfully by such talented masters of their craft right at the top of their form can surely fail to enjoy this album.

Well, I liked it anyway...

  Pink Floyd The Division Bell
Review created: 01/06/07

This album contains my altime favourite track MAROONED it is an instrumental peice of shear bloody genious. My opinion is this album is in floyds top three. This album was the "b" side to a cassette tape, loaned to me as an introduction to Pink Floyd. With "Dark Side Of The Moon" as the A side, I was hooked on Floyd very quickly!! This album contains some of Floyds best stuff like POLES APART and LOST FOR WORDS. If you like Pink Floyd, you will enjoy this album especailly the three tracks mentioned.

What do I think of the album "The Division Bell"? Great! Classic Pink Floyd (I've been a fan since Ardold Lane days).

Why did I buy it? To replace my wife's original tape, which given to her as birthday present a few years back and is now fuh, kna, worn out.
