Reviews Review created: 12/08/08 by: The novel by dan brown was the big hit of teh early noughties. The film looked at cashing in on the money making idea and did just that. Bringing togther a superb cast of americans and europeans, the film is great for people who have read or havent even heard of the book. Review ID: 10000000008329877 Was this review helpful? Report this review This film is a good adaptation of the book. I wonder however if it's impossible to appreciate the complexity of the story without having read the book. Also, without knowledge of the book, the film may seem a little too cryptic. I may be wrong, but as someone who read the book first, I was so much more enthralled than I think I would have been otherwise. Review ID: 10000000008117826 Was this review helpful? Report this review A couple of years ago, I first read the Dan Brown book the Da Vinci code. I read it before all the hype or in fact actually before the book started becoming massive. Admittedly, I don't read many books as often as I should, however I had a long journey planned and needed something to read, a quick look at some of the new books on display I liked what I read on the back cover. I am also not in the slightest bit religious, however as I read on I found it to be a brilliantly done and a very exciting, if not fictious alternate story concerning historic events. I went to see the film a while after the book had come out and really enjoyed it, it stuck very closely to the book, only a few minor details were changed which involved I believe Sony sponsorship from what I could see! It was such a gripping film it was over before I realized, purely because I was concentrating so hard, the people I were with also enjoyed it. The film was a very fitting replication of the book and I would highly recommend it to anyone who has either read the book but not yet seen the film, or vice versa. It was totaly gripping, with a plot as twisty as a curly whirly :) It arrived on wednesday, I have watched it 4 times by friday. Even my 14 yr old son found this film excellent. Well worth a look even if Tom is not your fav' actor. Review ID: 10000000007853837 Was this review helpful? Report this review |
