Dublin, Ireland. After four years living and recording in America, Luka Bloom retreated to his native Ireland to record RIVERSIDE's follow up. THE ACOUSTIC MOTORBIKE (named after the bicycle he rode around County Kerry searching for inspiration) finds Bloom, inspired perhaps by the change of scenery, writing even stronger material than on his debut. However, where RIVERSIDE was mostly character sketches, ACOUSTIC is a more personal reflection on love and commitment. There are still some stories of lost souls, such as the shut-in of "Mary Watches Everything," and the outcast of "Bridge of Sorrow," but most songs are simple and direct declarations of love such as "You," "I Believe in You" and "Exploring the Blue." Even the two cover songs, the classic "Can't Help Falling in Love" and L.L. Cool J's "I Need Love," seem to find Bloom satisfied with his romantic situation. Sonically denser than RIVERSIDE, and enhanced by Paul Barrett's sympathetic production and a guest appearance by older brother Christy Moore, THE ACOUSTIC MOTORBIKE is a sequel that surpasses the original.
