Tenko - Complete (DVD)

I would like very much to write a review on Tenko but I never received the DVD.

Having won the auction and posted my cheque to the the vendor,Ebay stopped him

being a member about a week later. After a lot of Emails and recorded letters

to this ex-member of which he never replied I gave up with him and filed a

dispute with the dispute council which is now in it final stages. It is very

sad things of this nature happen for it has put me off buying from anyone on

Ebay that does not use "PAYPAL".I was really looking forward to Tenko as it

was to be a presant for my wife.I will always be useing Ebay for it ia a great

way of finding goods.Thank you for reading this and I wish a nice day to every

Tenko is an amazing series. It is based during the 2nd World War in Singapore. As some ex pat women living in Singapore try and escape the war, their boats are sunk and they are captured by the Japanese. Taken to a POW camp on an island, the women try and cope and survive and build some sort of a life there. Tenko shows us what the ladies go through and how they bond with eachother and what they do to keep the moral and hope up of being rescued alive. It is quite shocking at times, but it is a realistic view of what really happened during the war. I have been gripped from start to end. Stephanie Beecham was superb in it. This boxset is really worth buying if you like history and plays as it is set like a play. Scenery and everything stays the same, you are fixated on the characters and their lives, not the scenery or effects. It is addictive, see one programme and you want to see the next straight away.

Excellent TV Drama Series - Highly recommended.

Gritty drama series focussing on the lives of a group of women interred by the Japanese during World War II. It was not shot with a huge budget, but it still conveys the horrors of what life in the camps was like. Great acting from some of Britain's best actresses.

I LIKE THE REALISM OF IT.IT MADE YOU FEEL AS THOUGH YOU WERE THERE WITH THE PRISONERS.I BOUGHT IT BECAUSE I HAD SEEN THE SERIES ON TV AND I WANTED TO OWN A COPY FOR MYSELF SO I COULD WATCH IT AT MY LEISURE.THIS DVD IS WORTH WATCHING OVER AND OVER AGAIN AS IT REMINDS ME OF HOW SOME WOMEN WERE TREATED DURING THE WAR AND HOW STRONG THEY HAD TO BE TO SURVIVE.

Saw this on TV years ago. Very historical story. So many POW movies are about men. This one goes into great detail about the women and what they had to endure. And it shows they discovered great strengths they thought they did not have. Had to purchase special DVD player for region II. That was the only negative. Don't understand why could not play on US DVD player. Tenko is worth the money and time in watching it. Something to leave to children and grandchildren.

This did not dissapoint me at all.I enjoyed every minute of it.In fact I purchased a portible d.v.d player to use in my bedroom to watch them in peace! Athough I the series when it was on t.v I watched it as if I had not seen it before. Well worth the money.

I found it a "must own" collection.
it's an enthralling drama based around the lives of women who are captured by the japanese, during the fall of singapore, and their inprisonment in a pow camp. The complete series follows the women through 3 different camps and their liberation.
Although based around women, it's not a chick series. My Dad and Brother also really enjoyed this series.

Tenko is a series I watched as a youngster with my mum I loved it then and I still do it's a timeless piece. I have wanted to get hold of it for a long time and have allways missed or it's been out of stock so when I saw it on e-bay I had to try for it. I had some christmas money left so I bid up to that limit and WON!!!! I was so happy. The only problem is now no work gets done as there is so much to watch. Thank you e-bay thank you seller youv'e made me a very happy person.
Tenko is set in a womans prisoner of war camp in Japan during the second world war and it really brings to life the hard times these ladies went through. I have watched so many P.O.W. films and series but this has allways been the best when you watch it you are there.FANTASTIC.

The DVD's were excellent. Tenko is a fantastic drama. However delivery was very slow prompting me to wonder if I was going to receive the DVD's and despite trying to contact the sellers several times I received no communication back

great series about hardship in prison camp had purchased this item for a friend great price mint condition and very quick delivery....if you enjoy great story lines tackling serious subject of prison camp brutality and strong women then buy !!!!!has handled the relationships forged between victim and abuser exetremely well would highly recommend

Smashing! Re-live the misery of the women POWs in malaysia. Takes you back to the late 70s. Super acting.Hours of pleasure when there is nothing good on the television.

I watched this first of al when I was still as school. Such a moving and compelling story - full of sadness, poverty and cruelty but at the same time love and friendship.

A very very good deal.Prompt,in perfect condition and I have no hesitation to buy again.
A significant saving from retail price and the convenience of not having to ride into town at this time of year only made the experience so much better Thank You.
