Frederick Rousseau - Tears (CD 2005)

As an avid Vangelis fan,who has always noticed Frederick Rousseau's credits on many of Vangelis's albums,I found this cd very interesting.It's obvious from the first few tracks his distinct influence on many of Vangelis's albums.
The opening track reminded me of 'Oceanic' with swaying synths underpinned with a processional drum beat.At times the tracks felt to me as if Vangelis has met Deep Forest,this is aparent on track 3 with ethnic voices merging with a hypnotising beat.Track 4 'Hellenic Dawn' reminded me of 'Earth' with its distinct Greek feel,very like Vangelis.Some of the tracks are up tempo and often give an oriental feel - 'Storm Across China' in particular.'Tears in Rain' is a superb relaxing,chillout dreamy track,and i think possibly the best track.
This cd should be listened to many times,do not judge it on first playing,as many of the tracks grow on you.This is not commercial music in any way.
Frederick has put his own stamp on this music but As I had hoped produced a very similar sound to the genius of Vangelis.
I look forward to hearing more,Give this music a listen,at times it oozes sheer class,If you like Vangelis,you would not be disappointed with this.
