Team America - World Police (DVD 2005)

Team America rules possible the best film Matt Stone and Trey Parker have ever made, its even coming close to BASEketball. The Animation was amazing and it is definately the funniest thing you can ever do with puppets, who would have thought puppet sex would be so complicated.

Team America is a masterpiece of childish satire, from the creaters of South Park, one of the most childish yet satirical shows to come out of America.

A lot of people seem to miss the point of Team America. It is not satirising American Foreign policy or the 'War on Terror', it's satirising the typical brainless gung-ho attitude of American action films. Admittedly, that IS the way George Bush seems to be running the country though.

A lot of features are very similar to your usual action flick - the 'bad guys' are generic Bin-Laden look-a-like terrorists, who speak a simple language with no relation to Arabic - 'Durka Durka' and 'Mohammed Jihad' being the only phrases needed. The heroes routinely blow up important locations, causing death and destruction, then act like they should be rewarded. Foreign countries are full of lazy stereotypes, like the Frenchman in a striped black and white jumper. Every line is literally dripping with cheese, and the plot makes very little sense. In fact, if it was a live action movie, you would be forgiven for assuming it was the latest Hollywood blockbuster.

The fact is, this is a very funny movie - if you have ever thought 'That's ridiculous' or 'How cheesy' when watching a Hollywood action film, then you will love it. Although, I should warn you, you will never again be able to watch another action film without rolling on the floor laughing. You have been warned!

I was expecting big things from this movie after South Park, it does deliver with the humour, however to be honest, it's not there all the time.
As I said, I was expecting it to be great after all I had heard from friends, from the media etc.

This film is hilarious in parts, the evil tyrant, the puppet sex scenes and jokes, however there's quite alot of blandness too. This film doesn't quite flow like South Park does and any fan of that will probably tell you the same. I wonder if they actually made this before South Park, because this film to be is a starting point, watch this before you watch South Park and you will appreciate the fact that the makers have got better, watch them the other way around and I would say they have taken 2 steps backward. Sorry guys!

I hope they do better in the future, my opinion at present is, stick to South Park!!!

Team America: World Police is the latest feature film from the creators of South Park. This is a mock action blockbuster featuring puppets which pours scorn on American claims that they are bringing freedom to the world through their "War on Terror". Trey Parker and Matt Stone are pulling no punches as they send up absolutely everyone with their own brand of hilarious satire.

Parker and Stone clearly aren´t scared of anyone; least of all the sue-happy stars of Hollywood and they have received lots of complaints about this film. They slag off the left and right pretty equally and scatter a liberal dose of toilet humour in with the clever political observations. What results is the kind of film which should manage to insult people from all backgrounds. The kind of film which produces the odd gasp of disbelief from the audience as they mutter to companions "how did they get away with that?"


This is the strength of Parker and Stone they say the forbidden things on people´s minds, the things people try so hard not to believe. Of course not all of the humour is clever and in particular here many of the jokes revolve around the crappy movement of the puppets or have something to do with sex or bodily functions.

The obvious inspiration for this film is the old Thunderbirds series. Team America similarly have a range of transforming vehicles and live in a hidden base (inside Mount Rushmore) and they are out to save the world. The difference between their stated aim and what they actually do is beautifully portrayed here as the Team destroy city after city with wild abandon in their desperate attempts to "protect" us all from terrorists. This echoes the part the US plays in the world, casting themselves as world police out to help everyone and then bombing innocent people and wondering why no one thanks them for it.

While the government takes a bit of a bashing there is no escape for the liberals speaking out against them, in particular the Hollywood actors and actresses who try to throw their political opinions into the ring. The number sent up here is astounding including Martin Sheen, Sean Penn, Helen Hunt, Samuel Jackson and so on. They all work for the Alec Baldwin run organisation F.A.G. (Film Actor´s Guild).

The true villain of the piece is the North Korean leader Kim Il Jong who is basically another incarnation of Cartman and every bit as funny. This movie also sends up other famous films from Top Gun to the vomit inducing Pearl Harbour. Kim Il Jong is portrayed as a Bond style baddie, the Arab terrorists in the bar in Cairo are recognisable from Luke´s first visit to Mos Eisley in Star Wars and their effortless deconstruction of the Jerry Bruckheimer brand of action crap is truly brilliant. They know the cliched formula inside out and so they are perfectly placed to send it up.


Parker and Stone also do the majority of the voices for the characters and they are supremely talented at this having honed the talent from years of producing South Park cartoons. They also seem to love songs and there are some great ones in this film, especially the ballad which sees the main character crooning about how he misses his girl almost as much as the makers of Pearl Harbour missed the point.

The makers of South Park make yet another great film which takes the michael out of America's naive belief it can police the world. Fantastic sound track too especially "I'm so wonewy".

As long as you're not offended by profanity and vomit and have a good sense of humour then buy this film!

Provided you're not too offended by rude words and bodily functions, this is a hilarious film. It's both a political satire on global politics, and a parody of Hollywood action movies from Thunderbirds to James Bond. Each time you watch, you'll spot more references to famous movies.

The conclusion of the film is disappointingly crass, but the action sequences are truly funny. I've watched the destruction of the Eiffel Tower and the rocketing of the Sphinx more times than I can count, and I've laughed aloud each time.

Really funny. I think it is daring in its subject matter, and pulls it off very well. My partner and I were crying at the puppet sex scenes. The film was a present for my partner, and was a good price.

Team America is from the makers of south park and it's brilliant. The funniest film i've seen in ages.

From the geniuses that bring us South Park comes 'Team America:World Police', one of the most hilarious (and unusual) films I've watched recently.
Visually, I'd be lying if I said 'Team America' was excellent, it isn't. It looks like a cross between thunderbirds and a crazy puppetfest. But for 'Team America' we can cast it aside because that's what makes it funny - we can laugh at all the poor movements of the characters that thunderbirds was known for.
You can't really describe the humour in 'Team America' very well. It's one of those comedies which you might find sends you un fits of laughter when you're not even sure why. The thing that stops 'Team America' from being higher rated is that it's deifnately for everybody. There will be some people who hate it just because they think it uses immature jokes. Though not one of the best comedies in the world I personally liked this. But if laughing at how cheap and poor the film looks and moves, laughing at something just because it's disgusting or over-exaggerated, or laughing at people making fun of other races (such as the evil Chinese bad guy in this case) - steer clear.

I could actually watch this film again and again it is SO funny,every time u watch it u pick up more subtly funny things from the slapstick to the hilarious reference. If you enjoy the Southpark creators taking the rise out of Thunderbirds,romantic moments,Korean dictators,the taliban,the musical 'rent', hollywood actors and many many other things that is..who doesn't? and no there isn't any swearing in it, and its amazing how puppets actually are as good as actors, for the purposes of the film anyway.

This film is so stupid its funny! Relaxing humour that is well worth a couple of quid on ebay. All you will be saying afterwards is MATT DAMON! Enjoy :)

This film is sooo offensive (and I mean in a brilliant way). Very crude humour here (as we see in South Park). The way they control the puppets were awesome. Brilliant action film (with puppets).

This film is BRILLIANT!!! Very very funny and packed with action (comedy action). Like at the beginning when the terroist runs out of bullets the Team American decides to melee the terrorist instead of shoot, its so badly done its good!!! I recommend this to anyone who likes south park as its made by the same people :)

Team America - World Police is a fantastic film. Its Thunderbirds meets South Park with a laugh a minute! Highly reccomended!!

My husband loves this film and its kinda grown on me but as i `accidently` smashed his other copy i had to find a copy fast and i did even though its used it still looks remarkable new fantastic and he still doesnt know the difference

I bought this DVD for my son as he was havng a sleepover and all his friends wanted to watch it. Personally it is not my cup of tea but the boys loved it - excellent quality
