Don't confuse this with a standard CD radio stereo. It's a substantial piece of kit, weighing in at nearly a stone, with sound quality to match. Not quite hi fi, perhaps, but for something that doesn't take up too much space and can be moved easily around the house the sound is very good indeed: clear and defined, with surprisingly good bass. At the price, it's amazing. My one quibble is that there's no input for a record deck or MP3 player.

  Small footprint, excellent quality

I wanted a small CD player with no frills that would sit on a shelf being unobtrusive and this does exactly that. The main unit is small with a sliding door, the speakers are very thin but solid metal and the woofer is discreet and lurks under the sofa. The unit delivers excellent sound quality (at least to my ears) and does exactly what I wanted. Set up is very easy, with the woofer acting as the central unit and the coloured or labelled wires just need plugging in. The whole thing feels very solid and elegant, and I especially like the metal and rubber remote, which fits in the hand rather nicely.

  Big & Beautiful

This DAB / CD player is bigger & bulkier than I expected, but gives a great sound as a result. The styling is a bit retro, but it looks fine next to the lava lamp!
I still have vinyl records waiting to be converted to MP3, so my CD collection is not going to be obsolete for some while.
The CD player is very easy to use, as expected, & the radio also no problem if you are already used to DAB ie/ scroll through the stations, & then press "Select".
I am very happy with this music system

Excellent build quality with superb tone and bass. Buttons are a bit fiddly but okay once you get used to them. Good looking item that fits well in any room, we use it in the kitchen and works very well. Already had a DAB radio but wanted the CD as well so looked at various makes before opting for this make and model as it had excellent reviews - would receommend it if you are looking for better than the normal boom box

  Look around...

...before you buy this!

Pluses are :-

Sound quality from CD section and DAB
Style-I've had it's style described as being a mixture of Wurlitzer organs/art deco/Reichstag chic...you'll love it or hate it in your room
Build quality...solid, i imagibe it will last a long time
Illumination...Looks good switched on in the dark!
Remote control...simple
Sound projection...not the loudest on DAB but seems to fill my front room with sound (16' x 14')

Minuses are :-

Price...somewhat expensive for a CD radio, albeit DAB (£115)
Connectivity...cannot connect any other device to play through it. This is a big weakness
No hard disc...so cannot record from DAB
No random play on CDs
Volume...on tyhe low side
Heavy, not portable.

So...am I pleased with the unit? The answer is YES, mainly due to the build quality, sound quality. It's a bit out of date in terms of connectivity.

Hope this helps.

  TEAC SL-L50 stereo

The first one had a manufacturing fault with display, but everyone at TEAC and the company I bought it from on E Bay (hyperworld) were fantastic. They arranged courier pick up and immediate replacement. The new system is great, for it's price we could not have done better. The tone, the dispaly, the quality is superb. No hesitation in giving the product and hyperworld a 5 star rating. I know some reviews are written by people who have a commercial reasons for praising a product or service, I am not connected in any way my business is car design, mainly in India! Colin
